I would say the smartest thing for him to do will be to actually go for the plastic sheet option. But that only reflects my suggestion.

There are waterproof blankets up to king size that can be bought on line. Might be the way to go. At least using that on the couch would save it from becoming aa biohazard.
One well known site I’m sure most of us have bought from describes it as a " Waterproof Blanket for Bed Intimacy, Love Blanket Waterproof".

I basically love the expression biohazard. It is so funny in my opinion. You english have so many funny expressions you can expose and use. I basically envie your ability to be able to do this within your language I will tell you.
