Great opening race and a decent win from George

When is the Spaghetti Bunch going to get rid of the what ifs? ![]()
We’ll soon find out, once we get a bit further into the season, and everyone has settled down. To these so called ‘NEW’ regs.
Which so far no one really likes.
The intention of the rules is to socalled level the playing field. Does not really work that way. ![]()
Certainly an interesting race. Quite a few overtakes, the only let down was. Everything happened before lap 20, with the VSC’s
We knew about Aston Martin’s problems, so the fact they didn’t take the chequered flag, wasn’t surprising. But the fact the Hadjar’s RB engine gave up, was a bit of a surprise.
I think it was a successful start to the season. I already expected Mercedes to have a good car. But Ferrari is also very competitive. However, as already mentioned, Ferrari should have used the VSC phases for pit stops. Then it might have been a little more exciting at the front in the second half of the race. Nevertheless, the first laps, with the overtaking maneuvers, were promising.
Red Bull also has potential, as Verstappen came from behind to the front.
Lindblad is a surprise, a very good race, Aston Martin didn’t get off to a good start at the moment, apparently with vibration problems.
Nevertheless, I think we need another 3 to 4 races to see how Formula 1 develops with the new rules.
it is official now
Max Verstappen will participate in the 24 hours on the Nürburgring in May 2026 with AMG Mercedes
Following months of speculation, the Dutchman has been confirmed to make his debut at the German endurance classic on 14-17 May with the factory-supported Winward team, running under the Verstappen Racing banner.
Just read that myself. It gives something else to do within Motorsport, but outside the F1 umbrella.![]()
I’m just waiting to hear what George says about the car, when it either starts failing, or the other teams catch him up, and leave him in their tyre tracks.
And it’s bound to happen at some point.
back to the racestart in Australia..
I did not see that untill now, just the normal feed of the start on tv.
Colapinto is a hero that he avoided a big crash there
No one mentioned that slow Racing Bulls leaving the grid. but good job to the other drivers, who dodged him, without hitting the barriers themselves.
But then it shows, that Lando was partially right, about a possible lights out pile up.
Totally forgot about these stupid Sprint races…
it is also way too early in the season to do that!
thay don’t have time to adjust the cars in the right way, so the gaps between them are way to big, so much for close racing under the new rules..
