If he does, he might be a better support driver to Max, than Liam or Yuki were.

But time will tell on that one.

I know they’ve got Hadjar already in the 2nd seat for nest season.

as the story tells… this is about the 2027 season

:police_car_light:| Verstappen makes the switch to Mercedes and is therefore in Portugal:

— Max Verstappen is in Portugal not for leisure but to test a Mercedes car at the Estoril circuit. This marks a significant shift as his team prepares for the 2026 GT3 program, running two Mercedes-AMG GT3 cars with numbers 33 and 333.

— The Red Bull driver participated in a test day, with his team using Mercedes-AMG power, a change set for next year. The cars, although in Red Bull colors, signal a new partnership direction for Verstappen’s team.

— Jules Gounon, a Mercedes-AMG factory driver, joined Verstappen on the track, highlighting the collaborative nature of this test. This move underscores Verstappen’s interest in exploring racing beyond Formula 1.

— Previously, Verstappen showcased his versatility by racing with Emil Frey Racing at the Nurburgring Nordschleife, where he and teammate Chris Lulham dominated the competition, proving his prowess in different racing formats.

— The news of Verstappen’s presence in Portugal initially sparked holiday rumors, but it was soon confirmed as a strategic test outing. His involvement in the GT3 program reflects his commitment to expanding his racing portfolio.

— The Estoril test is part of a broader strategy as Verstappen’s team transitions to Mercedes-AMG power, a move that could redefine their competitive edge in upcoming seasons.

— This development comes amid other significant changes in the F1 calendar, with Portimao replacing Zandvoort and not rotating with Spa, indicating a dynamic shift in the racing landscape.

— Verstappen’s recent activities, including his role in McLaren’s success and his humorous take on title defeats, continue to keep him in the spotlight, showcasing his multifaceted involvement in motorsport.

Strange how in F1, Red Bull and Mercedes are like two enemies.

But in GTR racing, not only is Max running the team, but is using Mercedes powered cars.

Because I read that earlier, and had to read it twice. As I also thought it was holiday to Portugal, and not the old F1 circuit for testing.

The Verstappen family is good friends with Toto Wolf and Susie, so on track they are enemies.. outside the track they get along well

The Nordschleife run was in a Ferrari , also no big deal

and i think both Mercedes and Ferrari will be glad to have a winning F1 driver in their cars
