I am not sure how hard this would be to implement but why not use some sensors when a car violates the track limits? If the sensor is triggered power is cut to 50% for some seconds. This way it would be no longer necessary to give penalties and each driver would get the same disadvantage by violating the track limits. It would be super fair and no more fastest laps driven at all for violating tracklimits.
You could also screw nail boards onto the lane demarcation, that would be cheaper.
But joking aside!
I don’t think the penalties for track limits will change any time soon. Because drivers are always trying to push the limit.
My opinion is that the tracks need more grass surfaces and gravel beds again. The drivers would certainly get used to them more quickly. Because there aren’t many second chances. And the issue would soon be off the table again.
The technology is certainly a good idea, but who would control this technology again?
Sensor technology is certainly ready today. But you would certainly need the counter-sensor technology (by this I mean the opposite pole, so that the sensor knows when it should switch or regulate) in the respective bends on all circuits in the world where F1 is driven. I don’t know what the costs would be for the circuit operators.
But I think we already have too much electronics and electronic aids in the cars. Actually, the driver should be the one who stays within the rules and can still be fast and successful.
I am convinced that if we were to take a lot of electronic aids out of the cars again, some drivers would not have the quality for the premier class. I sometimes get the impression that anyone who can play Formula 1 on the Playstation can also drive in Formula 1.
The season is over!
After the start of the season, I never thought it would be so exciting.
Thank you McLaren.
And if they continue to work so well during the break, it won’t be so easy for Redbull.
What Luis can offer Ferrari will also be exciting. My question is: Who will be the No. 1 driver there? Or will it be a duel with Charles? How will those responsible at Ferrari deal with this?
Rookie: It will be very interesting to see who can assert themselves. It looks very promising. And Formula 1 needs fresh blood to roll up F1 from behind.
I’m already looking forward to next season.
I hope that you Lukas and others will continue to provide us with the latest developments, even during the season break. Thank you for your good work on this topic!
