Today, probably not, but Just Fontaine scored 14 goals for France in 6 matches in the World Cup in 1954. The record is still standing, after over 70 years!

Perhaps it depends on where you pick the numbers. Anyway, they are both brilliant :soccer_ball:

Nope, this is what I wrote:

For me, the match against Croatia was England’s best performance of the tournament so far. And yes – I was dazzled by that match. As things stand today, I still think England are among the top eight favourites. DR Congo played very well today, especially in the first half, and I wouldn’t call England’s performance a mediocre one, as that would also downplay how strong Congo were. I thought Congo’s performance in the first half in particular was outstanding. But in the end, it’s always the result that counts, whether you like the performance or not. And at least they managed it without extra time or a penalty shootout.

Look, what you said comparing France and Argentina is so far removed from reality—these are simply the two best teams in the world, the ones that will play in the final. You called them “mediocre”—which means average—but at no point were they ever merely average. Argentina won the World Cup, then the Copa América; they finished first in their group, are ranked number one by FIFA, and won all three of their matches. Argentina is above average because they did everything required of them; no other team has better results or performances—not even France, since Argentina won the Copa América while France didn’t even make the Euro final. As for England—when you spoke of a “new England,” you implied they were the team to beat because they had reached the Euro final; if this is a “new” England—even better than the Euro finalist version—it implies they’re going to be world champions. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be “new”—it would just be more of the same. You’re trying to downplay it now, but your earlier comments showed you were dazzled by the hype. You can hate Argentina all you want, but they are number one; they’ve won everything they’ve competed in over the last four years. They are the team to beat, whether you agree or not.

And as I’ve said, it’s not just a matter of being the team to beat or having the best player in the world. That only happens because the Argentine team, right now, is the one with the most grit, passion, hunger, and drive to win—no one could achieve all that in four years relying solely on Messi. Messi is just the cherry on top.

i knew it , SEE ! you do have a sense of humour.!

Let’s just leave it at that. There seem to be some interpretation and translation issues between us, and I don’t really have the time - and honestly the motivation anymore - to keep debating. You can think whatever you want about me. Thoughts are free.

I’ve still got to deal with the Three-Quarter Standings (78 out of 104 matches), and I want to get it done today since I already announced it for today. The evaluation will still take at least another hour. Amen. :folded_hands:

Okay. You’re just another one of those starry-eyed types. All that’s left for you lot is to root for random national teams like Cape Verde and the like. In reality, nothing in the world is unbeatable; Argentina could lose, but all signs point the other way. “Mediocre” means average; mediocre isn’t bad—it’s better than bad. Hardly anyone on this forum likes Argentina; it’s full of English and French fans—mostly starry-eyed Europeans who can’t accept Argentina’s long-standing dominance and feel compelled to lash out against it. But I think you’re going to try to swallow Argentina, get sick, and puke it right back up… lol. I don’t claim to have the absolute truth—anything can happen in sports, and Argentina could lose—but the way I see football (without the starry-eyed hype or bias), that’s unlikely to happen. Good luck with your England team and your starry-eyed friends and fans; I have nothing left to debate with you.

Even the norwegians can be able to lose. I am saying that as a norwegian. :face_blowing_a_kiss:

Look, even though I have a Brazilian mother, I think Norway is going to win. Sure, Brazil has a chance—I’d put it at 55% for Norway and 45% for Brazil—and I hope I’m wrong (given my Brazilian side), but Brazil is a team that lacks creativity; they rely too much on sheer pressure and don’t have enough motivated players. I see Norway showing more dedication and passion to win—perhaps on penalties, after a 1–1 draw.

I’m not mad—it’s just that you remember the Euros, right? You were all hyped up, but I told you from the start: England would swim and swim only to drown right before the finish line—they’d end up runners-up again. I said that back when they hadn’t even reached the knockout stage yet. If you’re honest, you’ll remember I predicted England would finish second in the Euros. So this time you couldn’t help yourself; you had to come back, seeing as we’ve got a new little buddy who’s just as dazzled by England as you always are.
