We are relatively young to 
compared to many countries in the the world cup. But the team getting this far will go a long way in putting a spot light on the game. Soccer as we call it here is currently the most widely played youth sport in the country. Driven by high accessibility and lower costs compared to traditional sports like hockey, we have about a million registered players across the nation. I first stated watching the game when I was posted to Germany in 1976. And later when my children were old enough to start playing they played on house leauge teams. They started when what I called blanket parties. Because you could throw a blanket can cover all of the kids on the pitch because they were all where the ball was trying to kick it! 
But over the time they played they moved on to competitive teams and eventually gave back to the sport as couches. My wife (RIP) and I managed the teams they played on and I would aid as a team medic when I was available. Not always possible as I was in the service back then. Now my children have their own children and they all play. For me it’s joy to watch my grand children play!

To concede the decisive goal in the very last minute of stoppage time is brutal. But Japan’s careless turnover on the edge of their own box just before that was asking for trouble (especially that late in the match). Japan handed Brazil the win imo…

I guess that, playing against France, wasn’t really an option for them 
I really tought they where going to make it because Paraguay gave them a little bit hope by missing the 5th penalty.
My question is which big team gonna be next to say good bye?

First a very weak performance from Germany, then a stolen goal, then weak performance from both teams and finally the weakest penalties Germany ever did…
Germany once again not able to show a good match.
