Earned Community Hero... again? Something wrong with the titles?

I was a bit surprised by the notification that I just earned the title of “Community Hero”. Again.

The thing is, I had already gotten this long ago. I thought these were permanent titles. Have I been demoted in between, or can you loose these by stretches of inactivity? Or has there been a forum-wide reset of Trust Levels at some point?

At one point, when I was fiddling with my profile, I had decided not to display the title, because I’m so humble, but I always had that little icon at the bottom right corner of my avatar.

The title of “community hero” can be lost as it is based on your forum Trust level, read about the basics of forum Trust levels here Understanding Discourse Trust Levels

it has certain largely unknown requirements on the forum which could include but can be customized by VHTV

“To reach Trust Level 3 (Regular), users need to meet specific criteria, such as posting a certain number of posts, having a certain number of likes, and maintaining a positive reputation. Unlike other trust levels, Regulars can lose their status if they do not meet the requirements in the last 100 days. There is a 2-week grace period after gaining Trust Level 3 where users will not be demoted.”

Just to avoid confusion “level 3” (Regular) is called Community Hero on this forum

Yes, I felt the same way… Just a few days ago, I got T3 again, for at least the third time.
As someone like you and me, who is actually quite active on the forum and doesn’t have a bad reputation, it’s sometimes strange.

There are many criteria to be met in order to maintain T3, the amount of topics read, likes given and received, flags, etc

Only VHTV know truly the requirements needed as they can modify it anyway they want, for all the users that visit and post the badge is only currently awarded to 29 users but that also includes project team

Just to give you an idea of the basics that Discourse set the role at

“To get to trust level 3, in the last 100 days…

  • Must have visited at least 50% of days

  • Must have replied to at least 10 different non-PM topics

  • Of topics created in the last 100 days, must have viewed 25%(capped at 500)

  • Of posts created in the last 100 days, must have read 25% (capped at 20k)

  • Must have received 20 likes, and given 30 likes.*

  • Must not have received more than 5 spam or offensive flags (with unique posts and unique users for each, confirmed by a moderator)

  • Must not have been suspended or silenced in the last 6 months

  • These likes must be across a minimum number of different users (1/5 the number), across a minimum number of different days (1/4 the number). Likes cannot be from PMs.

All of the above criteria must be true to achieve trust level 3.”

In my case, it can only be point 4, which I haven’t fulfilled consistently. Perhaps because I’m not active enough in every ‘big topic’. Through various other activities, I’ve increasingly reduced myself to a selection.

Oh, it makes complete sense that I was demoted at some point, I’m not as active as I once used to be, and only really interested in a small handful of topics. Ariela being one of them, so you might overestimate my activity. I just didn’t know you have to keep up activitiy to maintain the status. I don’t need hero worship, anyway.

You also don’t get a notification if you revert to T2.
I only noticed it a while ago because we have a few more rights as a T3, including renaming topics… and there was something I wanted to correct, but the edit button was gone…

According to the badge “you’ll also get lots more likes per day.”

That’s total nonsense, isn’t it? Why should I get more likes?
