Discussion about Russian invasion of Ukraine

SBU military counterintelligence officers have destroyed the pride of the Russian defence industry - the Terminator-2 BMPT

This rare equipment, worth an estimated 1.5-2 million dollars, was burned down by several kamikaze drones.

"The Terminator was attempted to be dragged away with the help of a T-80 tank. But as you can see, it didn’t get very far.

:fire: It’s “hot” again in the Moscow region

A huge column of black smoke is rising from the Poligon industrial zone on the Doninsky Highway in Ramenskoye near Moscow, according to the Russian media.

The Emergencies Ministry said that the fire occurred in a warehouse with fertiliser, but locals report a “pop” before the fire started.

An explosion in Belgorod.

A high-rise building, a shop, and a car parked nearby were damaged.

Watching many of these interviews it is really amazing how brainwashed, stupid and thick so many russians are. Rather pathetic really and sad.

RUSSIAN UNITS GOT MASSACRED WHILE RETREATING FROM UROZHANIE

UKRANIAN ARMY PUSHED RUSSIANS OUT OF UROZHANIE, THE SOUTH IS BREACHED

Why is Kyiv continuing to attack the Kerch bridge?

5 years in jail for not going to war!

Well it seems there are some sane and suitably advised people left in russia then.
The whole debacle is certainly not going to end good for russia as they are just feeding their own demise, as if they haven’t already.

In St. Petersburg, a film about German nazis is being shot. Right behind the prop poster, there’s a real advertisement promoting contract service in the Russian Armed F___es.

A coincidence? I don’t think so.

Best army in the world ahahahhaa :rofl::rofl:

KERCH & ATTRITION

Now everyone has had time to look at the Kerch Bridge attacks several things have become clear.
Historical footage shows that the Russians have never tested black smoke generators and that all of the black smoke came from the railway bridge.
The white smoke is as tested prior to this and generated from units on the road bridge. Provisional results suggest the rail bridge was hit at least twice and the black smoke is the result.
Even as of this morning there has been no notification the bridge reopened.
The Russian public kindly revealed that only one of two Pantsir systems fired two missiles, neither of which hit anything.
The Ukrainians used at least two modified S-200 antiaircraft missiles to fire at the bridge. S-200 is NATO ID SA-5 Gammon. Originally a very long range strategic anti-aircraft role with as many as 2,030 launchers across the Soviet Union in 1990, but they were very dated by then having entered service in 1967.
Quite what the Ukrainians have done to them is hard to know but, I suspect new fuel, modified warhead and GPS. They used a semi-active radar homing head originally, which would have helped them hit the bridge with or without smoke. The smoke is only useful if the final stage guidance is electro or thermo optical with target matching or uses laser guidance, way beyond what these are capable of. Even with GPS they would have had to have that wired in to their control veins to keep them on target, quite a process for something never designed for it. Whatever they’ve done it’s way more complex than what the Russians did with the S-300’s they lob randomly at civilians.
Either way, the rail bridge is closed, the four eastern bridges in Crimea, 1 rail, 1 major road, 1 auxiliary road and the secondary road along the spit, have all been destroyed. The spit had been closed to the public for exclusive military use but that is possibly the most badly damaged.
Add to all of this twenty drone decoy strikes on Crimea that have lead to drones hitting at least one base, seem to have done their job. The Ukrainians are becoming masters of drone warfare. They’re even using modular production to produce bespoke drones for specific operations and testing them in combat. Outstanding initiative and innovation.
On the attrition front the one thing that’s coming over endlessly from the Russians moaning on the frontline, is the loss of artillery support in the south. They are loosing so many pieces a day - as many as 4 heavy mortars in a single HIMARS strike yesterday for example. The artillery they do have has to restrict its ammunition usage due to fast deterioration in resupply.
They have no counter-battery radars in general, and even if they had the luxury of one as they see it, it’s not integrated into a unified find and fire system like Ukraine has. (One even NATO is looking at with envy. They have taken their own system, linked it to NATO weapons and comms and it’s become massively efficient and effective).
Latest gripe from the Ukrainians: their daily artillery system k__ls are down. The reason: they’ve already destroyed so much. But they have to keep going, once you start this process you can’t stop.
All of this in combination is starting to bare fruit at the front.
Russia keeps piling in with the manpower it has in the south but that’s clearly getting thin now. They’re struggling to fill some of these gaps that are opening up. Fighting tooth and nail for every scrap is delaying Ukraine’s advances but at huge cost. Without artillery on the scale Russians are used to more men are being used up more quickly. It’s a never ending cycle.
The Russians seem to have planned to do whatever it took to hold out until the rains come in late October and early November - Ukraine would have to stop and they could rebuild. I don’t think they have that long, and I think they know that now. That’s why they pile on the pressure at Kupyansk in the north - in the hope it will suck in more Ukrainian reserves.

Meanwhile with regional elections due in Russia the Kremlin isn’t risking another full mobilisation call. Yes they rig elections, but they will know for real how people feel even if the public results are fake.
Yet again this authoritarian need for real approval as a symbol of legitimacy rears its contrary head. They’ll lie about the result but everyone will know that- but if the real vote is anti-government and their authoritarian legitimacy is actually unpopular they worry, and are disinclined to make unpopular decisions.
Meanwhile the Ruble passed, for the first time ever to be worth less than 1 US Cent at 100.4 to 1 USD.
A good few days!

as Johan Cruijff always said:

Every disadvantage has its advantage

“One can endlessly watch two things - how the West is rotting and how the dollar is shrinking”

The obvious consequences of a rising dollar are a spike in inflation, a rise in the price of first everything imported, then everything else, a likely stiff increase in the key rate and interest on borrowing.

We don’t give a fuck.

The dollar exchange rate is 100? So we have rubles. Prices soared? We’ll be patient.

What’s got to happen for them to wake up?!

:chart_with_downwards_trend:The Russian ruble is falling. One dollar is now worth more than 100 rubles on the Moscow Stock Exchange. This hasn’t happened since March 2022, when the dollar in Russia reached 121.5 rubles. It was a historic high then. Now it could happen again.

The Russian domestic market is not getting enough currency due to a decline in export earnings. There is also a strong demand for currency from importers and large businesses.

Odesa 08/14/23:pray::sob::pleading_face:

A Russian warship fired warning shots at a cargo ship in the south-western Black Sea on Sunday as it made its way northwards, the first time Russia has fired on merchant shipping beyond Ukraine since exiting a landmark UN-brokered grain deal last month.

In July, Russia halted participation in the Black Sea grain deal that allowed Ukraine to export agricultural produce via the Black Sea. Moscow said that it deemed all ships heading to Ukrainian waters to be potentially carrying weapons.

On Sunday, Russia said its Vasily Bykov patrol ship had fired automatic weapons on the Palau-flagged Sukru Okan vessel after the ship’s captain failed to respond to a request to halt for an inspection.

Russia said the vessel was making its way toward the Ukrainian port of Izmail. Refinitiv shipping data showed that the ship was currently near the coast of Bulgaria and heading toward the Romanian port of Sulina.

“To forcibly stop the vessel, warning fire was opened from automatic weapons,” the Russian defence ministry said.

The Russian military boarded the vessel with the help of a Ka-29 helicopter, the ministry said. “After the inspection group completed its work onboard, the Sukru Okan continued on its way to the port of Izmail.”

A Turkish defence ministry official said he had heard an incident had taken place involving a ship heading for Romania, and that Ankara was looking into it. Reuters could not immediately reach the vessel or its owners for comment.

A senior adviser to the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, said the incident was a “clear v_______n of international law of the sea, an act of piracy and a crime against civilian vessels of a third country in the waters of other states.”

The adviser, Mykhailo Podolyak, tweeted that “Ukraine will draw all the necessary conclusions and choose the best possible response”.
