Exactly so best for him to create a distraction…
Tomorrow the offensive will continue from Kharkiv Oblast to Luhansk Oblast, and the Ukr Army has already entered there, so again, Russia has nothing, no Oblast 100% under control. So Russia is losing militarily. Putin loses politically. It has to choose between losing militarily, which will double into a political loss, or risk a short-term popular loss and try not to lose militarily. I can bet he will choose the second variant.
If mobilization does take place the war will enter a very different phase. It is likely because look at what Russian YouTube vlogger ‘INSIDE RUSSIA’ said (read back here) QUOTE - Whoever has been playing chess has done an awful job. The only way out is to give up or keep raising the stakes. And that’s what they have started doing, raising the stakes - UNQUOTE.
But there is a down side to this for Putin. Mobilization would be his biggest gamble yet because if he screws this up he will be f*cked and we could even see major changes in Russia itself. The other danger is launching a new counteroffensive right in the mouth of another bitter Ukrainian winter. It is very hard to fight a war in those conditions from moving equipment around, men, supplies, logistics is more challenging and it is harder on morale. Just look at the Russian morale right now!
Emmanuel Macron said this evening, Europe and most countries in the World will never recognise an illegally established state. If there was not so much death and war crimes we would be laughing right now at this idea he said.
Personally I don’t think Putin will use nukes. Even Putin once said QUOTE - if there was a third World war then those who survive it will fight a fourth World war with sticks and stones - UNQUOTE
I think there is a bigger chance of something happening at some of Ukraine’s power plants. Regardless of whatever the results are from any referendum (I think we know what they’ll be) the war will rage on and nobody will see operations there as an attack on Russia. Why? because any new country won’t be part of Russia, they will be an illegally established so called independent country. Putin shouldn’t think he can reinvent the rules of war to suit himself.
I really hate to say this but I do think if there is mass mobilization there will be very, very high casualties on both sides. Now is the time for Ukraine to receive a lot more weapons. Give them whatever they need because they have proven to the whole World they can really fight back.
Russian most potent tank T-90M captured in Ukraine
Putin puts measures in place to stop Ukraine
VHTV will pay them.
Apparently, according to the news tonight Putin is proposing to hold a referendum in most of the eastern and southern parts of Ukraine which if successful would annex 20% of Ukraine and thus any attack thereafter would be construed as attacking Russia when all bets would be off re his response.
I think we could be about to enter a great unknown and god knows what the possibilities are. Nukes? Who knows, i doubt even he knows at this moment.
One thing for sure he ain’t going down without a fight.
If he dose that, Special f___es from unnamed places will move in to Ukraine.
Your guess is as good as any but no doubt we shall all find out in the near future.
Nukes? no way, he knows only to well what the repercussions of that would be.
Poutine et pris dans un étau entre Ukraine et l’Otan.
Yeh exactly, in his arrogance he got it completely wrong about outcomes.I still find it hard to believe that he(Putin) thought he could just invade and it would all be over quickly and Nato would sit back and watch. His campaign will go down in history as one of the biggest military cock ups ever.
@Dave27 you summed it up perfectly I’m still in disbelief at how badly wrong he got this. He will get his place in the history books but not in the way he had hoped.
Hi Sparky, cast your mind back to last winter when he advanced on the Ukrainian capital, basically got bogged down and ended up retreating because of a mixture of logistic problems and being sitting ducks for the Ukrainian military to pick off with the limited hardware they had at the time and now the idiot is planning a large mobilisation in similar circumstances but the difference being the Ukrainian military are now much better armed.I ain’t no military expert but if he proceeds with this it will be a bigger embarrassment than last time but of course he and his propaganda machine will dress it up to be something completely different. The really sad thing about all this is the huge loss of lives on both sides simply to satisfy his ego. Bullet for Putin please.
il faut dire a poutine, que pour gagné la partie de poker . il faut les 4 as ,il les aura jamais.
Hi Dave, yes I remember that and how messy it got for them. I can’t see how he (Putin) thinks it will be a lot different or better for him with mass mobilization. I think it will just exacerbate the current situation. As you rightly said, Ukraine has a very different military f___e now compared to when this started and Ukraine is growing stronger day by day as more weapons flood in from NATO.
I don’t think president Zelenskyy is interested in discussing a compromise or truce until all Russians are out of Ukraine. He seems to want only one form of discussion ‘Russian Surrender’ and he is right but unfortunately the cost to human life is what worries me most. I think Zelenskyy and Putin are two very determined men meaning talks could be a long way off.
Over the last few hours many people in here have asked the same thing, what happens next? Wow I don’t know tbh because of recent events. I think as the Ukrainian winter approaches we will probably see a massive push from Russia in the short term before a de-escalation until early next year when there is more activity again. If Ukraine can hold the ground it has gained against any new counteroffensive then that will be a success in its own right.
Good luck to them and I hope Europe meets their military needs. I see even small European countries like Slovenia is sending around 200 tanks as part of a deal to update their own hardware. Well good on you Slovenia I have visited Slovenia many times and it really is a stunning country and the people there are simply beautiful. I speak a little Slovene too but they know only too well what tyranny is because it isn’t all that long ago when they had to defend themselves against it.
Never underestimate what a mad lunatic will do as there won’t be any logic to it in our eyes but in his brain well? Only time will tell but he won’t go down without a fight you can bet on that.
Morning Rob, Yeh illegal invasions, and now sham rigged elections whatever next, what beggars belief is that Putin and his motley crew really believe they are doing no wrong.I think he’s calling these elections “historical reparations” or something along these lines, if it wasn’t so unfunny it would be funny.
Good morning Sparky, just a quick one you mentioned Slovenia there as an ally of Ukraine, would I be correct in saying Serbia are with Putin?
So Putin has announced he’s calling up 300,000 reservists, part time soldiers being flung on to the field of battle in the depth of an oncoming winter, Wow their morale is going to be sky high. This coupled with more threats of use of nuclear weapons smacks of a desperate man to me.I’ll say it again but the sad thing is it will simply mean more death and destruction. These men and women probably don’t really know what they are fighting for.
They also said that they have 25,000,000 reservists and all the armaments at their disposal. They have openly warned NATO about nuclear weapons, which they actually do not need in this respect.
It is important to realize that Russia is conscripting reservists and Ukraine is conscripting all those who are capable of holding arms.
It will not be possible without NATO stepping on Ukraine’s ground, I am sure of that.
This movie part is telling enough:
If they go for the same system as in the Second World War, when a soldier was worth nothing, with no revolt of the Russian people against their own moronic leadership, millions of people will suffer.
Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said on Russian television Wednesday morning:
“These are not some people who have never heard of the army,” Shoigu said. “These are those who have served, have a military registration specialty, have had military experience".
Yeh they have military experience but normally you would have a cause to defend, or fighting to repel an invader etc, etc, none of that applies here and it’s so damn frustrating as this whole exercise is to fulfil a maniacs ego trip and thousands die in the meantime.
