Discussion about Russian invasion of Ukraine

Yes I was interested to hear what she would say today and she is clearly taking a stronger position which is really needed now. What I also took from her speech was, Europe will see changes which will be difficult for everyone but to make the right changes sooner rather than later all of Europe ‘Must’ unite even more and work harder together to deal with energy prices, the cost of living and Putin. Three big challenges prioritized.

There was also a strong message in there for Putin. Nobody in Europe will back down regardless of what Putin thinks or does next. Well we have come this far and Ukraine’s recent success was a breath of fresh air for Europe and NATO. Their success has given everyone the lift in spirits we were all waiting for. I hope Ukraine’s recent gains will stoke Europe’s feelings on sending even more weapons.

Agreed Ukraines recent successes have been a real boost outside Ukraine as well as inside . Van der leyen at last is saying things that we want to hear, yesterday was all ablout keeping the sanctions going. However with all the analysis above about the powder keg in the rest of eastern europe you do wonder whether the corruption that the FSB has spread around to the various parts of western europe will be enough to fragment the EU approach. France and italy must be suspect as well and we know that Rusia has bought it’s way into italy ( berlusconi et al). It does seem that Europe wants to and can sometimes act as the one body that it would like to be, but there are times domestic ( or regionalisation) policies push for independance of thought ( and action.)

Trouble is normally they take years to decide anything by which time it’s all over

Yeah well maybe i’m biased

As a result of the Russian missile strikes, Krivoy Rog is flooded: water is quickly approaching the private sector of the Central City District as the dam suffers structural damage

Kryvyi Rih is the largest city in central Ukraine, the 7th most populous city in the country.

Way to go Russia, and another important military target. :rage: :man_facepalming:

"We can confirm that water supply is out and the level of the Ingulets river is rising sharply in Krivoy Rog — source from the area confirms they have completely lost water pressure in their home, says they still have electricity. "

Apparently, the water in the river is rising so sharply that you can hear it rumbling from distance.

President Zelenskyy makes surprise visit to liberated city after rapid Ukraine advances

Well up to now according to the mad monk it’s Ukrainian military who have bombed schools, hospitals, housing, etc so why not a dam, asshole!!!

While Russian propaganda openly agrees to destroy civilian infrastructures. Having a fuckface and no shame to display it.

Doesn’t surprise me in the slightest as I heard today, and I will try and find the report, that they are going to rename the Special Operation to Anti-Terror Operation, saying that they have to stop the Ukrainians from bombing the Nuclear Power Plant at Zaporizhzhya.

The war has been made worse if what was said in that channel 4 report is true. Apparently Reuters reports that Putin’s envoy in Ukraine had struck a deal with Kyiv that met with Russia’s demands including staying out of NATO. But Putin still rejected it and pressed on for war.

More truth will come out in time as it always does but certainly if this turns out to be 100% true then he really is a war criminal just on that one point alone.

Not surprised either, Putin is super delusional about what his aims are, he lies, changes the rules to suit himself and the scary thing is his cohorts are just the same. The so called special operation which is total bulls__t anyway in my eyes gives the Ukrainian military the right to retaliate in kind.I may be wrong but a while back was Zelensky told by the UK and other weapons suppliers not to use their missiles on Russian soil?.

That’s true as they said don’t want an escalation of the conflict.

I think that red line is out the window now. If Ukraine is under attack from Russian bases inside Russia then she has the right to defend herself. F*ck the Russians because Putin shouldn’t think he can make the rules of war to suit himself.

That is why the USA is apprehensive of giving the Ukranian Armed F___es long range weapons. In case they are used for targets in Russia. Crazy I know.

They are already hitting targets in Russia, so it’s kind of irrelivent really, what they want and not want.

Forget my senile moment as I now know where I got that from, one of those crazy Russian TV shows.

:rage: :rage:

Ukraine asks US for long-range missiles – WSJ

Kiev’s military command earlier said longer-range weapons would f___e Russian citizens to feel the “acute” cost of the conflict

Ukraine’s latest wish-list for US weapons reportedly includes a repeat request for longer-range tactical ballistic missiles. Washington previously declined to send such weapons, for fear of escalating the conflict with Russia.

The Army Tactical Missile System, or ATACMS, can be fired by M142 HIMARS and M270 MLRS multiple launch rocket systems, both of which Ukraine already has. But compared to regular rounds for the launchers, it has a significantly longer range of some 300km.

The missiles are among the 29 types of weapon systems and munitions that Kiev is seeking to get from the US to fight Russia into the next year, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday. The list, which was shared with US lawmakers and studied by the newspaper, also includes tanks, drones, artillery systems, Harpoon anti-ship missiles and 2,000 regular rockets for HIMARS/MLRS systems, according to the report.

Ukrainian officials have long been asking the US to give them longer-range arms, including the Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS). The surface-to-surface missile complex was specifically named in a keynote military strategy paper published in the Ukrainian media last week, co-authored by the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian f___es, Valeriy Zaluzhny. One of the key points of the article was that Ukraine needed longer-range weapons to affect Russian policy, by putting pressure on its civilian population.Read more Zelensky admits Ukraine is dependent on US

Most Russians, the Ukrainian strategists wrote, perceive military action in Ukraine as something distant, and “because of that Russian citizens don’t take the losses, defeats and most importantly costs of this war in all senses of the word as acute,” Zaluzhny and his co-author, former assault troops commander Mikhail Zabrodsky, argued. The article stated that the goal of the Ukrainian military next year was to “make those feelings more impactful, regardless of the distance to the targets.”

Washington and Kiev previously said the US conditioned its military aid to Ukraine on its pledge not to use the weapons against Russian territory. Washington declined to provide longer-range weapon systems, citing concern that Moscow would take it as a major escalation, potentially drawing NATO directly into the conflict.

The Ukrainian strategy paper suggested that an escalation of the conflict was inevitable. It predicted that Russia would deploy nuclear weapons against Ukraine and called on Kiev’s Western supporters to preemptively use “all means at their disposal” against Russia.
