But that is exactly what I expect. It is their country and their responsibility to do what they can to make sure that Putin does not attack Ukraine.
If necessary, they can leave the country. This is one of the ways of not making this war possible, but without having to go to prision for it.
BTW, the idea of the protests is ultimately that Putin can’t lock up everyone. It’s just that a lot more people have to participate. As I said, now is the time to be active.
Also we as spectators, should draw appropriate conclusions, or is your voyeur king really more important to you than the fate of the people who are suffering right now in Ukraine?
Maybe the elections in Russia aren’t entirely fair, but after all, someone has to vote for him for so many years, right? More than half of adults still support Putin, whatever happens, even among participants and most likely visitors some do so, and I believe none of them will say that, only because they are worried they would be booted; my mate came back from a resort hotel a week ago, and he told me that some Russians were annoying like never before; not everyone, but many are convinced about rightness of war, because Ukraine apparently belongs to them, they claimed! And after few shots some heroes were even eager to fight others, so fucking pathetic, and that matters; Anyway, now everyone needs to decide, individually, whether to pay or not, as probably everyone has brains;
Have you any concept of what life is actually like in Russia? I don’t know where you live but you seem to have very little knowledge of Russian life.
These are the normal everyday people that occupy these apartments they are not the Russian oligarchs that you read about in the newspapers.
Very few of them have jobs nor study and this is their only option of sustaining life for themselves, some I guess come here with the thought of making some money for the future, some pee it up the wall as that is all they know.
Almost all of them have never travelled outside of the country as it just isn’t possible within their budget. I remember a conversation on here with the CEO of VHTV saying that they get two or three times the national average monthly salary which is $500. So although it sounds like a feasible option based on our western ideology it is totally a non-issue for most Russians.
That is so easy for you to say from the comfort of where you are sitting right now. But what are you actively doing right now to help these people, apart from trying to convince, as my dear friend Stinky would put it, a load of pervs on a voyeur site that the CEO of this company should put his company at risk to placate a few disgruntled users.
Try to think logically and objectively about what you are saying as it really doesn’t make any sense if you really think about it.
Something you should think about, though, is how many of the Russians are really against or for Putin. I think sometimes your willingness to see all people in Russia as victims, as if there is no reason for Putin to be in power, is much too naive. There are Russians, I have already met one here in Germany who think what putin is doing is great. There was also an example of a girl supporting Putin in one of the Barcelona apartments (of a competitor of VHTV).
So. Yes, I expect the CEO of VHTV to expose his company to this risk, by closing the russian apartments in his project. Simply because it is the right thing to do. And yes, I expect all Russians to try to stop Putin simply because it is the right thing to do. It is their country and therefore their responsibility to do something. Currently, it looks like the Russians in the VHTV apartments are having the time of their lives, even though their military is bombing cities (and therefore hospitals) in large scale. Sorry, but that’s not right. For Russians, it is time to act and stop Putin.
We here in the west can support those who had to flee Ukraine and Participate as best we can in the economic war against Putin. From my point of view, this means that we should no longer buy goods and services from Russia that we can do without. I wish VHTV would close the Russian apartments. Better yet, maybe VHTV can give some Russians who want to leave the country a new start somewhere else.
The important thing is that something big also emerges from many small actions. We all need to rethink our actions. Especially those whose country is conducting this war of aggression.
I do respect your opinion, I just cannot agree with it in purely rational terms, so I guess we will just have to respectfully agree to disagree with each other.
It’s actually easy to keep these place operating because all of the raw material is produced in Russia. It’s true that a lot are franchises but the fast majority are owned by McD’s. This one may well be a franchise, but at the end of the day, some McD’s contunue to operate as normal. The fact that he could still pay with Mastercard was a surprised, I thought they had pulled out as well.
%. The franchise’s are saying ‘Fuck you corporate’. They know they will get into trouble and possibly lose their licenses and get sued in international courts. But that’s down the road anyway. If they can still get the supplies within the country, they ain’t going to stop.
