Sorry I don’t follow what you are saying here - Trump wanted other countries to pay more for NATO to reduce US expenditure and as he saw it, to pay a fairer share. It wasn’t to strengthen NATO of which he was not a big supporter.
Putin has Kompromat on Trump. Trump couldnt even admit that they attacked the US cyber systems. Trump also hated when congress put sanctions on Russia. All in all Trump is Russia’s puppet and that’s why we kicked him out.
Secondly, Russia having troops near Mexico and the Baltic states being in Nato are two totally different points. The Baltics chose to join Nato, which is not just the US, because they are more similar and wanted protection from Russia and papa Putin because of exactly what he’s doing now. Once “make Russia great again” Putin invades I hope we put the harshest santions we can on them
Please let’s not make this a thread about Trump.
Isn’t it always about Trump.
Yes and? Ukraine also does not want Russian troops on its borders. But Putin doesn’t give a damn.
I do have a 5 years old grandd______r, the apple in my eye and I want to see her growing up safe and happy. I do not want any war just because two dick heads are squaring up to each other for absolutely no reasons, and none of the two wants to back down.
Putin certainly doesn’t want war either. He may be hoping that if he uses enough threats, Ukraine will surrender without a fight. And if that worked, it will continue with Georgia and the Baltic States. And then around the world after that. That is ultimately Putin’s goal!
Exactly trying to regain the lost empire. USSR
Nope, nothing like it, as he is trying to consolidate what he has and is not interested in expansion, as a model like the former USSR wouldn’t work in modern times and would end up as a disaster for Russia.
We British have a very simplistic view of Russia mainly due to all the propaganda that we were given as c___dren in schools.
I remember a map of the world and Europe was a multitude of colours representing each country, but when you looked at Berlin and to the east is was one big mass of red.
It wasn’t until I started to travel in the region and gain new insights that weren’t propagandised from local people that I really started to understand the mentality of people like Putin and I am not going to go into all of that again at the risk of repeating myself.
Don’t get me wrong as I am in no way a supporter of Putin, it’s more a case of understanding your enemy.
Keep your friends close and your enemies even closer
Russia announces that military exercises will continue and troops remain at the borders. Biden is probably senile, but his staff is not.
It seems to me more and more that war is inevitable.
It’s not really a war. It’s an invasion of a sovereign country and should be condemned from the rest of the world. It’s a Russian bully move.
Exactly, You can’t tell a sovereign nation what to do or not do
Russia does not want troops at its borders, by the same token, surrounding free countries bordering Russia, do not want Russian troops at their borders. So, how are we going to resolve this?? By giving in to Putin? with further demands and threats of war if we do not comply?? Or do not give it to him thus protecting our way of life.** A catch two situation I am afraid.
Russsia needs a lot of money to survive!
For those of you who want to learn something about Ukraine, on Netflix there’s a beautiful documentary about Ukraine and its people. After you have seen this, you will love Ukraine.
Watch it now, thank me later.
I saw that and I had a friend called Volvo who was in the police there and had regular contact with him right up until 2014, after that time I have been unable to contact him and I can find no information about him or his friends.
He was a good person and I can only imagine that he has been arrested and put in prison, at least that’s the best I can hope for him as other thoughts I don’t want to think about.
By the way, right now Putin is addressing the nation talking about the history of Ukraine and saying things like:
Here are a few quotes from the remarks:
- “Let’s start with the fact that modern Ukraine was entirely created by Russia, more precisely, by the Bolshevik, communist Russia. This process began almost immediately after the 1917 revolution,” Putin said.
- “Then, on the eve and after the Second World War, Stalin already annexed to the USSR and transferred to Ukraine some lands that previously belonged to Poland, Romania and Hungary,” Putin said.
- “And in 1954, for some reason, Khrushchev took Crimea from Russia and gave it to Ukraine. Actually, this is how the territory of Soviet Ukraine was formed,”
Not sure if he is making any justification for any future actions, but it’s scary stuff.
He has just signed documents recognising the Donbass and Donetsk areas as independent of Ukraine.
Putin is addressing live all Russians as we speak. Scary staff I am afraid.

This would be the wrong way to get it.
