I’ve seen pictures of their living room with the attached bathroom before, but it’s the only living room I’ve ever seen in my life with a bathroom in it. Very strange.

That’s not traditional sushi, this is just raw fish. Real sushi not only looks better it tastes better, although I’ve never had raw fish the way they’re eating it.

Whether you like it raw, sashimi-style, flash-fried as part of a sushi roll, or chopped up in a Poke-style sushi bowl, eating raw fish is no longer frowned upon in the US, or most anyplace else.

What is well known today as sushi, is a Japanese dish of prepared vinegared rice, usually with some sugar and salt, plus a variety of ingredients, such as vegetables, and any meat, but most commonly seafood. Styles of sushi and its presentation vary widely, but the one key ingredient is “sushi rice”, also referred to as shari, or sumeshi. Wikipedia

Although it has changed significantly over the centuries once it was introduced to Japan, sushi originated from China around 4000 BCE (BC).

You’ll be happy to know, Pacer, you can even get sushi without the raw meat.

California roll or California maki is an uramaki containing imitation crab, avocado, and cucumber. Sometimes crab salad is substituted for the crab stick, and often the outer layer of rice is sprinkled with toasted sesame seeds or roe. Wikipedia

I can attest to the fact that sushi is quite good. Often, the meat is sliced so thinly you can hardly tell it’s raw. Start with the California roll.

Go to a good Japanese sushi restaurant. Sip on a good sake while you eat it, which BTW, is not pronounced sa-kee. The correct pronunciation is sa-keh.

It’s just like learning which types of ■■■■ you like, with regards to sushi. Some you’ll like, others not so much.

I hope this was helpful, and you soon get up the nerve to try it.
