Maybe I’m missing it, but I don’t see anything that would indicate he was trying to be funny. He didn’t make a comment and the pictures are just them fucking. Am I missing something or did you maybe quote the wrong person?
Looks like there is a blackout and they might have some sort of generator to keep the internet and cams running? 
Also i have noticed a car battery which is used for the lights
Seems ot be a quite a large battery. Good they can stay online and hopefully also get some comfy feelings

Most likely yes. They also have an inverter there so they can use it to power all sorts of things.
