Do they always buffer the camera and sound if the girls are in the bathroom sick with a stomach bug and throwing up? Especially to prevent free users like me from witnessing it?

No, they were definitely not on purpose. In general, as you probably understand, the service is configured for paying users. For them, there are separate dedicated servers with a good communication channel, everything has been done so that paid users do not have buffering. And in your case, it is probably the communication channels that are failing. We never intentionally degrade the quality of the stream for free users.
