I’m in China and I just topped up money via a virtual credit card, but my account has been officially blocked and my appeal has no effect. Do you have any good ideas?
Your VHTV account or credit card account has been blocked? Did you use a VPN? Highly recommended when in China.
I usually use a VPN when logging in, but I used a virtual credit card to top up my membership for a month, and then my account was blocked. I need to provide my ID information to unlock it. But the virtual card I used does not have an ID card.
VHTV does ask for your ID? Or the payment provider? What did you use? Verotel?
Maybe they got suspicious because of a Chinese IP? If you did not use VPN this time?
Yes, this is what they responded to me: Any ID from you is needed to verify your identity in case there is an issue with your payment。I use virtual visa
I don’t know much about credit card technicalties, but would bitcoin be an option for you? That’s what I used to pay for my subscription.
If you can’t give them identity verification to their satisfaction, they’ll have to transfer your money back to the virtual credit card that it came from. I don’t know how complicated it is in China to acquire bitcoin, here in Germany I had to go through very thorough identity verification to get it. But I don’t remember any ID verification for the payment that I made to VHTV.
I guess when they receive the bitcoin, they have the money and there’s no further issues that could come up about your payment. Maybe then they don’t want any more verification.
But I would talk about that with support before taking any action in that direction.
Could you please clarify exactly what you’re needing help with? There are just two options here: providing documents to confirm you as the cardholder (since our system flagged the payment as potentially fraudulent) or opting for a refund. It’s entirely up to you to decide what’s best.
Also, if it helps, feel free to check out our pinned topic! We have been running successfully for 8 years - and definitely not in the business of ID theft
Hi Kaya, what’s the name of that topic? Thanks.
I was referring to Celebrating VHTV’s 8th birthday! . Since user is hesitant to share their data with us, he can see lots of our long-term subscribers there proving we are reliable website =)
Gotcha. Thanks for clarifying.
It’s very difficult to get Bitcoin in China, so I had to pay with a virtual credit card. Fortunately, the staff unblocked me after I provided my Chinese ID card.
Once I provided my Chinese ID, my account was unfrozen. thanks for your reply
