I am currious what sort of turtles or tortoises they have.
Depending on the breed, some often will not survive for long in an aquarium tank with a lot of water, as some need more dry area to relax.
I use to have an red-eared swamp turtle, and I did not have in some aquarium tank with water. Did have on the floor most of the time, letting in wander around. Did have an larger bowl on the floor where it could go in and out as it wanted to spend time in water.
I am no expert in any means, and it hard to see if they got some dry area to rest
