For much of the Western world, Christmas is celebrated on December 25, according to the Gregorian calendar. Yet in a distinction that dates back centuries, Orthodox Christians follow the Julian calendar and mark the festival on January 7 instead.
Ukraine celebrated Christmas Day on the 25th December this year as it continues to distance itself from the Russian Orthodox church and old Soviet impositions.

That’s partially correct. Only some Orthodox Christians are celebrating the Christmas on the 7th of January, the others are celebrating on the 25th of December since 1923
