Archive related question

Are the archives videos uploaded automatically or are videos uploaded only by community/customer request basis?

I’m noticing a lot of videos missing from Elon’s realm last week and over the weekend.

people make archive request to have moments operators to add the to Archive

So, to confirm this doesn’t happen automatically. If there are no request for a specific moment, it doesn’t go onto the archive.

Did I understand that correctly?

yeah if its not requested it might be ignored

but you can make archive request at any time to have it saved

I made a request for a moment to be added to the archive today. The moment took place on the 13th,3 days ago.

Is my request still valid?

yeah it will be saved 1 of the moments operators will grab it

ahh no furthest i believe you can go back is 2 days so you might of missed the cut

Thank you for taking the time to respond

Ahh dang, that’s what I feared

The general experience is Operators cover everything they are able to cover during their workflow. Requests were meant to be additional measure for subscribers to ask operators to save something. Yet there might be a case when operators cover requests only. It’s up to them.

yeah i tried to explain it but you explained it way better than me

Would it be possible to implement a “report” button that we can click if we see something interesting? If the button turned a different colour for say 10 minutes, other users would know a request has already been made. This functionality could be expanded such that the beginning and end markers could be edited afterwards by the person that made the request, effectively taking work from the moment operators who could concentrate on the review before uploading. There is obviously too much for them to keep up with, and concentrate on the realms they enjoy. I have previously assumed a scene I enjoyed would be archived as a clip was broadcast on Twitter, yet the scene was not saved - I had no way of knowing that no-one else had requested it, nor did I feel it was necessary to…

The idea you propose is not new, and I know people here who experienced it with one website which no longer is with us. They had the same concept, yet the archive video was being recorded as long as someone pressed the button to keep it saved

The only future I see for moments to cover everything is for them to be saved automatically based on users interest. This is something we have in plans to introduce, yet no ETA on that. We will scale the operators share instead this week already. And we are making changes for operators to spend less time saving moments too.

Thanks for your reply. I have no experience at other sites. Will the changes that you say are imminent mean more clips will be archived because the process will be more efficient?

Well yeah, the idea will make it possible to save more with better accuracy to prevent saving “empty” scenes, while being able to adjust those later
