The original meaning is truly scandinavian, but it is the same with the sun-wheel, out of which the svastika was formed.

The original meaning is ancient religous, but the political-regime mis-used it for their purposes.

Of course you would say that.

Many hate symbols come with a built-in level of plausible deniability, and people may choose to believe or not believe that it is a pure coincidence this symbol was also used by the Waffen SS and several right wing extremist groups.

I’ll just say that if you go down the rabbit hole of researching hate symbols and right wing extremist tattoos you’ll frequently come across this symbol as one of the ususal suspects, and the meaning of tattoos such as this seems pretty unambiguous to me.

I understand this is quite a can of worms I’ve opened here, but I really don’t intend to turn this into an endless debate. So we’ll probably have to agree to disagree on this.

we already said that we are far from politics and the Fenrir tattoo has nothing to do with what you are talking about. it is just a tattoo and nothing more☺️

I do not believe you.

I’m sorry I have to put it so bluntly, but if I’m being honest, that is what it boils down to. I don’t think there is anything you can do to make me believe that the symbol on Fenrir’s neck is anything other than exactly what it looks like. It is a nazi tattoo.

Usually people insist that their tattoos are an expression of their personality. Only when it becomes inconvenient it is just a tattoo with no meaning at all. So he got such a singular, big symbol tattooed in such an exposed place, presumably for the rest of his life, and he didn’t mean anything by it? I don’t know who might be gullible enough to believe that.

No, such a tattoo is a statement that is meant to be seen and understood. I see it, and I understand what it means.

Your “hate list” is correct but what I don’t understand is how he dares to go out without a scarf in his part of the world. It would be bad enough here in the north where runes are known but some of them are misused as we know!

Especially when the symbol can also be interpreted as representing the Ukrainian Azov battalion…

Even if his intentions were different, one might think to check about a meaning of a tattoo before getting it. Discovering it can be seen as Nazi Symbol, each sane person would not opt to get the tattoo…

I agree. Especially when something that big is going to be permanently emblazoned on a very prominent part of your body for everyone to see. Either he didn’t research it, which would be nuts, or he already knew what it meant.

Unless, of course, you are a Nazi supporter. Granted, some people won’t know what it means, but the people it was meant for will understand.

What is the Azov battalion?

It would be quite a stretch to confuse this symbol with the one on his neck.

They don’t even slant in the same direction, nor are they the same height, and the lines are quite a bit thicker on the Azov symbol.

Still the same symbol. But I won’t continue that tattoo discussion here. It is on VHTV to allow things like that or not. We can only vote by either watching this place or not…

I agree with what you said, except that the Azov symbol is a completely different symbol. I don’t believe that anyone could look at those two symbols and say they were the same, or even similar.
