Sad news in Scotland today is that former SNP First Minister Alex Salmond has passed away suddenly at the age of 69. Love him or loathe him he was a character and took Scotland to the brink of Independence in 2014 before narrowly being defeated by the finest of margins.

one of the very few politicians ,who you could actually trust & believe , FACT .! if he had been more ruthless im pretty sure he would become one of scotlands greatest ever politicians , R,I,P WEE MAN

An independent Scotland, free from the United Kingdom, in the European Union, would have been great.
Iām afraid though that the momentum for independence has passed. The last polls are not encouraging.

RIP Alex. What realm was he in?
He was the leader of the Alba Party in Scotland. The ex leader of the Scottish National Party who persuaded David Cameron. another ex Prime Minister Of the United Kingdom to give a referendum to see if the population of Scotland wanted to devolve from the UK. The result was that the majority wanted to remain in the UK, He suffered a Heart Attack yesterday and as a result he died. I hope this helps you.
