Surely that is just a (rather well constructed) light show with a few pyrotechnics (fireworks or possibly just flares)…NOTHING more?!

It reminds me to some degree, of our main New Year’s Eve / Day firework and light display in the UK which is televised each year, usually featuring famous landmarks such as ‘Big Ben’ (The Elizabeth Tower, to give it its correct name) and the London Eye.
