Flora - Thunder (not Grom-why did Jabbath state, “Grom is now in Wiki”? Who’s Grom?) seems like a nice dog. How old is he? You’re going to spoil him – I know it!
Suggestions/Observations:
Find out what treats he likes because he can get trained a lot easier if he knows when he does something right he’ll get a treat.
“Bathroom” Training: My dog goes outside. When he was a puppy I would say “do it” when he was ready to pee or poop. He learned if I said “do it” he knew it was time. This worked out really great when we were traveling. I suggest every half hour you put him on a pee pad and say “do it”. When he pees/poops on a pee pad praise him and give him a treat. Do this every half hour when he is awake for 4-6 weeks. Eventually he’ll do it on the pads with no problem.
Since you can be home all day you will have plenty of time to train him. Please keep off your phone and use that time for training. You can have the best trained Russel Terrier there is. It just takes patience and a lot of time. Please read a book or articles on training. When you find a way you think is best on how to train a dog follow it. It is great having a well-trained dog!
Discipline: Flora – you have a temper. When you get mad you can get very physical. You cannot hit or throw dishes at Thunder. Grab him by the scruff of the neck and say “no” or “bad dog”. Remember no matter how mad you get you cannot harm him!
There is a lot to do having and training a dog. I just wanted to comment on what I think are very important issues that I have learned through living with my dog.

Flora - he’s chewing on the sheet and the balnket and the balls on the blanket. Stop him now! If he is not stopped he will keep chewing stuff and you’ll have a lot of problems. It might be cute now without really harming anything but as he gets older …enough said. He needs more than one chew toy.

Flora - And another thing…when training Thunder or if you are on the couch with Thunder you should always be in the nude. I’m sure he would like that!
