I only had one Fischer-Z LP back in the day, but I seem to remember they were a pretty good pop/rock band. I especially remember this song.

Fischer-Z - Pretty Paracetamol (1979)

seen them a few times live, every show John Watts( the singer, no, not John Waite) asks if the audience want a special song to be played..
in 99.9% of the occasions it is Limbo, must be because the lyrics are not very difficult to sing along

Fischer Z - Limbo

A riddle, a piddle, a middle, again
A riddle, a piddle, a middle, again
A riddle, a piddle, a middle, again
A riddle, a piddle, a middle, again

Limbo, Limbo, Limbo, Limbo

The razamataz is a pain in the bum
The razamataz is a pain in the bum
The razamataz is a pain in the bum
The razamataz is a pain in the bum

Limbo, Limbo, Limbo, Limbo

It’s time for another birthday anniversary for a musician we have lost, and since this musician has a solid resume, I got inspired to do another “artist run-down”. This one is about the English bassist and singer (and occasional guitarist) John Wetton (1949-2017), who was born 77 years ago today. So here’s to his memory :wine_glass:

John Wetton joined the band Family in 1971, where he stayed until the year after. This band played a weird mix of blues rock, folk, psychedelia and proto-prog, and were an established band on the English rock scene back then. So this is were John Wetton was begginning to get known. He played bass in Family on two of the band’s LP’s.

Family - Burlesque (1972)

Then in 1972 Robert Fripp asked John Wetton (for the second time) to join the prog band King Crimson. In addition to playing bass, he was also the singer in this version of the band. On the three albums he did with them, he also proved to be a good vocalist. When Robert Fripp turned 80 about a month ago, I posted a long prog epic, so this time I’ll settle for something shorter and more laid-back, with John Wetton on vocals and bass.

King Crimson - Book of Saturday (1974)

Robert Fripp disbanded King Crimson at the end of 1974, but John Wetton was not out of a job for long. He toured with Roxy Music, and then replaced bassist Gary Thain in the heavy/prog band Uriah Heep. He stayed with the band for two LP’s, among them Return to Fantasy, with its classic title track.

Uriah Heep - Return to Fantasy (1975)

John Wetton didn’t really fit in Uriah Heep, and he quit in 1976. After failed attempts to reunite King Crimson, he formed the prog supergroup UK, with drummer Bill Bruford (Yes/King Crimson), keyboardist Eddie Jobson (Curved Air/Roxy Music) and the brilliant guitarist Allan Holdsworth (Soft Machine/Gong).

UK - In the Dead of Night (1978)

UK only lasted two albums and what came next was another prog supergroup, namely Asia. In addition to John Wetton on bass and vocals, this band consisted of guitarist Steve Howe (Tomorrow/Yes), keyboardist Geoff Downes (Buggles/Yes) and drummer Carl Palmer (Emerson, Lake & Palmer).

Asia - Only Time Will Tell (1982)

Asia (with John Wetton) lasted for three albums, the last one released in 1985. In addition to all this, John Wetton’s had a decent enough solo career, with several albums in his own name. He has also recorded and/or played live with among others Bryan Ferry, Wishbone Ash, Phil Manzanera (Roxy Music) and Steve Hackett (Genesis). John Wetton surely got around. Once again, to his memory :wine_glass:

And once again, to anyone who gets all the way through my long ramblings here, you are my friend!

Leon Russell & Friends - Honky Tonk Women (live, 1971)

I stumbled upon this cool clip with the late great Leon Russell, doing a swell version of this Stones classic. When I browswd the comments, I did find some interesting trivia. The lady dancing with the rolling pin was called Sweet Emily, and she was Leon Russel’s personal assistant at the time.

Furthermore, the black female background singer’s name is Claudia Lennear, and she was allegedly the inspiration for Brown Sugar, another Stones classic.

Korrekt: ‘Lebend in Japan’…also im Sinne von ‘lebend anwesend’

You can translate LIVE as an imparativ go live there : Lebe in Japan

Or (A)Live in Japan “Lebend in Japan” (playing live which, to me astonishing, Keith Richards is also still managing to accomplish. :joy: :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth: )

I know, nobody loves “Know-it-alls” and Sheldon Cooper. :joy:
