This song was first released in 1969. It was a relevant song back then. Unfortunately I may be even more relevant today, 57 years later. Who knows what the new year will bring? 2026 already looks a little torn and frayed. Happy New Year anyway!

…because 90 years ago today the American singer and songwriter Roger Miller was born. He had a pretty successful career, which was at its peak in the mid-1960’s. Still he continued to tour and record, still with some success, more or less until he passed away in 1992.
Roger Miller had several hits, both on his own and as songwriter for others. And in addition to 11 Grammy Awards, he is in both The Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and The Country Music Hall of Fame. So he did prettty well in the music world. What may be his best known song is just such a damn cool song! Here’s to Roger Miller ![]()
