Loved my time in Italy - been 4 times (with work) but never got too far south of Milan. Did manage 3 visits to Venice though ! 
You missed a real gem pal, especialy Positano on the Amalfi coast, such a beautiful place with a lovely cathedral just up from the sea front.
Florence, Pisa, Rome, Sorento, all beautiful places. We had about 5 holidays over the years to Italy and would recommend it to anyone. 5 stars. 
Damn, i missed out on the Amalfi coast when on a family holiday with my m____r and sister about 15 years ago. It was a package trip to a village on the southern peninsula of the Naples bay, near Sorrento. The day they arranged a trip to the Amalfi coast I was feeling a bit under the weather, so we didn’t go. Guess I’ll have to get back to that 
But really, a holiday in Italy can be recommended for anybody having the opportunity to do so.

Oh yes, forgot to mention Capri, absolutely magic and Pompei, walked up to to he top of Vesuvius as well, the views from the top are delightful.
