Google services were reportedly inaccessible for millions in several countries, primarily in Southeast Europe, on Thursday.
According to DownDetector, a surge of reports from users struggling to access Google services such as YouTube, Gmail, Chrome, Maps, Google Translate and other services started at 10.00 am local time.
“There was a surge in reports starting at 7.10 GMT. During the outage, we received reports from Türkiye, Bulgaria, Greece, Georgia, Croatia, Serbia, Romania, North Macedonia, Armenia, Azerbaijan and 16 other countries,” wrote tracker website Outage.Report.
Some users are reporting that Swedish audio streaming service Spotify has also been affected by the outage.
We regret that this situation caused such a strong reaction on your side. As you mentioned in your message that you plan to leave, what I’m very sorry to read, we have canceled your subscription accordingly.
We hope the service will run smoothly for you in the future, and we’re always here to help if you reconsider
Thanks for the info, but RLC is having no issues at all. I have just gone to every room, so I covered spain, Italy and Russia all rooms are fine with no lags at all. VHTV can’t blame the Google or streaming issue for their shortcomings.
Different platforms use different setups, and unfortunately ours was directly affected by the outage, as well as many other services. I’m sorry that it spoiled your experience, but not everything can be controlled – our technicians did their best to keep main site, forum and infrastructure as accessible, as possible
It’s always better to not use only one of three big hyperscalers (AWS, Google Cloud, MS Azure)
But I know such a backup solution can be difficult and quite costly.
There are also local solutions for example in Europe. In Germany there is for example Hetzner for hosting.
I have some times some small access trouble regarding the entrance of the main forum site. A problem that pops up from time to time. I think the error message says no contact with server. And then suddenly it figures out that it is going to correct itself back to normal. Then it works out normally again.
The site isn’t running smoothly for me at the moment. There are still a lot of reloads and delays.
I would say that the drive is still stuttering and not running smoothly.
Shouldn’t all the routers in the apartments be restarted as well? Just asking as a layman.
The timeline is a story in itself. It jumps around a lot. But I don’t use it very often.
You are not wrong! I remember a few years back they had similar issues, and it wasn’t until the forum members started to drown support with messages that they decided to get something done about it, it took a few hours to sort several issues that had been plaguing the site for days. Many members threatened cancelling and if memory serves quite a few made good on their threats. It just proves there is strength enough if all members pull together. Now VHTV are blaming the outages in Europe, so VHTV are essentially saying that they do not have servers to fall back on, that’s not a good business plan really, in part what they are saying is they have all their eggs in one basket and if something goes wrong, we suffer, not them as we have already paid up front. They also do not give goodwill gifts like tokens or days to apologise for their site issues, as we learnt when they had their prior issue lasting for days, they didn’t even have the common courtesy to apologise for the days we had lost, let alone throw a few days or tokens for free as a good will gesture.
