but the pinned post at the top of topics page ,doesnt take you to the poll , , you have to go to original comp topic then scroll down to first post to find the poll , pretty sure ,many members are going to have difficulty in finding the poll and probably wont bother voting , think it needs to be easier to find ,

Quite a confusing vote this time. Usually the final vote was always in an additional link. That was better.
But your hint helps to find the voting. 
New here (3 days ago). How do I find out what trust level I have?.. I’ve tried to participate but am not sure I’ve been here long enough.

Did the contest end too early @kaya ? I just took a look in the poll and that is the date for the end

Yes, the poll ended earlier due to technical issues (we actually haven’t identified it yet, the forum date seems to be correct, just the poll one was influenced. Anyway, winners are pretty obvious so we decided it could be ended earlier!
