Ok pal you gotta make allowances for these yanks

Just for your general education of the term Tattoo…

  1. A pattern, legend, or picture produced by tattooing: used also attributively: as, tattoo marks.
  2. In India, a native-bred pony or small horse. Also, by abbreviation, tat. See tat.
  3. A beat of drum and bugle-call at night, giving notice to soldiers to repair to their quarters in garrison or to their tents in camp; in United States men-of-war, a bugle-call or beat of drum at 9 p. m.

A military tattoo is a performance of music and/or display of armed f___es in general. The term comes from the early 17th-century Dutch phrase doe den tap toe (“turn off the tap”), a signal sounded by drummers or trumpeters to instruct innkeepers near military garrisons to stop serving ■■■■ and for soldiers to return to their barracks and is unrelated to the Tahitian origins of an ink tattoo

The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo at Edinburgh Castle, to which my learned friend Dave was referring to, is an annual series of military tattoos performed by British Armed F___es, Commonwealth and international military bands, and artistic performance teams on the Esplanade of Edinburgh Castle in the capital of Scotland. The event is held each August as one of the Edinburgh Festivals.

i trust this resolves any query’s you may have over the term Tattoo’s and hopefully has gone some way of a reasonable explanation.

I trust this may have enhanced your education on this matter.

Sorry if you are unable to appreciate the musical content pal but the visuals are quite stunning.

I feel exceptionally learned, now, kind of like a genius.

I’m glad you found the search engine, although I must take exception to one small part. Ink tattoos did not originate in Tahiti. You must have missed my post above Dave’s post about the Edinburgh Castle Tattoo. Allow me to return the favor.

And, here is a slight variation of that post.

For a practice so commonly associated with youth, tattooing is remarkably old, says professor Nina Jablonski, head of Penn State’s anthropology department and author of Skin: A Natural History. “Tattoos have probably been important to people for over 10,000 years,” she notes. The oldest documented tattoos belong to Otzi the Iceman, whose preserved body was discovered in the Alps between Austria and Italy in 1991. He died around 3300 B.C., says Jablonski, but the practice of inserting pigment under the skin’s surface originated long before Otzi.

Thanks for that pal, so there were idiots around even back that far then  Seems that humans never learn class eh

I don’t know if I’d go that far. Just some of them do something you don’t like.
:+1:

I’ll give you some allowances, you tosser — sorry, Dave, it had to be said — and they won’t be the monetary kind, either. I have an ad out for a Leprechaun who starts kicking 'round the ankles and works his way up to the shins.

The odd tattoo is okay but excessive and big tattoos turn me off. Their choice but my choice to turn the page. Even gorgeous well built women that excite me but are overdone with tattoos is not for my eyes. Trisha is nice to quickly look at but not for long. Excessive piercings - same deal. Yuck!!!

Just keep away from big magnets eh

Not an acceptable way to talk about the guest and participants!

:rage: :-1: :-1:
