To protect content integrity and respect platform policies:
Do not post full scenes or entire events, even if divided into multiple shorter clips.
Only short excerpts or summaries are allowed, with a total combined duration not exceeding 5 minutes per scene.
Attempting to bypass this limit by uploading a full scene in parts is considered a violation.
These restrictions help ensure fairness to participants and paying subscribers.
Violations may lead to silence or suspension.
Posting links to external projects our participants/ex-participants take part in/their nicknames is permitted as long as they mention our project back on their profiles. This requirement helps keep things reciprocal and supports our mutual interests.
Wishing everyone a wonderful Easter with your loved ones in real life and/or with our beloved project!
I think I know where this new rule comes from, but out of personal interest, does this also apply to my time-lapse cooking videos? In total, they’re never more than 5 minutes long, but sometimes the total scenes are over an hour long…
As I said: we all know the reasons for this necessary rule change. But we all also know one or more trolls who simply try to cause trouble on principle… simply because they think they can, or out of boredom… or whatever other reason someone wants to troll…
…and I want to spare the support from having to deal with things they don’t need to worry about
My two “longest” videos are the two ‘dawn-to-dusk’ scenes of the pools at Hector & Marla, and in the Starlighthouse… with less than 2 minutes of running time
These last few months I have not edited or posted many videos, but when I do, I like I like to craft more ambitious multi camera edits, and I think I managed to make a few fairly good ones. Quite a few significantly longer than 5 minutes.
Would it still be ok for people to post such video edits in the Premium Lounge? I had once created a topic there for exactly the purpose of displaying videos that are to long to be given to the general public, with the blessing of @VHTV_James.
The idea was Premium Subscribers have access to the whole scenes in the video archive anyway. James then was so generous to also grant access to the Lounge to deserving members of our forum, Community Heroes and above, regardles of their current subscription status.
Crafting the best video you can from the VHTV footage is a nice hobby, which I might like to return to from time to time. Back then the Premium Lounge idea didn’t really catch on, probably because we were kept on a very long leash; nobody ever complained to me about too long videos again.
But I totally understand the necessity to shorten that leash, looking at what that long leash has lead to. And frankly I don’t see a point in just posting very long stretches of raw footage, in one long or many consecutive videos, but if people think they have a good reason to post a long video, the Premium Lounge seems to be a viable compromise, don’t you think? One could then post links to the lounge, with a shorter excerpt, or a trailer, in the public parts of the forum.
