No, they’re not. All the prepaid cards, are credit cards. You can even make virtual ones online.

Well, maybe they function like a debit card, but they’re called prepaid credit cards. Anyway, i made a virtual one online, took me 10 minutes and works perfectly. I’ve used the Revolut app

I was trying Wise, which is pretty much the same, and it was rejected as a debit card;

I made use of the 3 days, with a virtually maxed out CC, but as you say they’ve now cancelled debit card use. I thought the UK Gov. was for the majority, but it looks like the minority have one this battle, all because parents couldn’t be bothered in making sure that they never had a smartphone and didn’t monitor what they were doing or watching online if they did have one.
It was fun while it lasted, watching them living their lives from the sombre moments to the fun times

I don’t know, i only tried Revolut and it worked fine. No idea about the others, there are so many prepaid credit cards out there

When you have used that card for the last time, might be an answer; as I’m aware; debit cards have only recently been rejected;

No, no, i made and used that card now recently, after my usual debit card payment was declined because of the new law. I’m talking few days ago

Is the Revolut credit card available in the UK?

First, does Revolut have a credit card for UK customers? Unfortunately not, or at least not at the moment.

Currently, the Revolut credit card is only available in the following countries:1

  • USA
  • Ireland
  • Spain
  • Lithuania
  • Poland.

However, Revolut is looking at expanding to more countries, so watch this space - its credit card could be coming to the UK soon.

Here is a summary:
In the UK, the standard Revolut card you get with their accounts (Standard, Plus, Premium, Metal, Ultra) is a debit card .

This means:

  • You can only spend the money you have in your Revolut account. It’s linked to your multi-currency account, and transactions are debited directly from your available balance.
  • There’s no credit facility or overdraft. You cannot go into debt with a standard Revolut debit card.

However, it’s worth noting:

  • Revolut has started offering credit cards in some other countries (e.g., USA, Ireland, Spain, Lithuania, Poland). While they are looking to expand this, the Revolut credit card is currently NOT available in the UK.
  • Revolut does offer other financial products like personal loans in some markets, but these are separate from the core Revolut card offering.

So, if you’re in the UK and get a Revolut card, it will be a debit card.
