Hello, dear friends!) I comb with a soft brush, necessarily moistened with a special preventive agent or water. On the advice of the groomer, from head to tail and the back against the grain, because there is a large accumulation of dead hairs and skin. I gently brush the head. My cats sometimes like to scratch themselves on the rough corners of the scratching post with their heads. I love my cats very much . You also have every right to judge me. Thank you very much)
P.S. Bakhmutya (black) - this cat has experienced a lot, since she is from the occupied territory, and it is better to do her procedures at home (with the exception of certain ones)
Brushing a cat in the direction their fur grows, from head to tail, is the most comfortable and natural way for them. It mimics how they groom themselves, making the experience more enjoyable and less likely to irritate their skin.
Going against the fur can be uncomfortable and may even pull or tug on their hair, which cats typically dislike.
Using gentle strokes in the natural direction of the fur also helps reduce shedding, prevent matting, and distribute their natural oils for a healthier coat.
Sounds like you have long experience with treating/breeding cats since you are so categorical in your statements. I have had/and at times bred and sold purebred cats for over 50 years. Now I only have “three alley cats”. All cats are different. (I’ve had cats that would rather kill me than be brushed/combed). Others like it their way. Everything from the method you describe to massage
with the brush type that Magnolia (and I) describe. She is absolutely right that it may be necessary to pull a little against the hair due to dead hair and “dandruff”. This means that the hairballs they swallow become a little smaller! JMO
Unlike yourself, I have neither of those experiences. I’ve owned cats most of my life, at one time I had nine for years. Not only did I quickly learn from experience that you never brush a cat from tail to head, unless you like being clawed and bitten to ribbons, but I’ve read over and over that you always brush a cat from head to tail, just like you would pet a cat. Never from tail to head.
I emphatically disagree with this statement.
The comment I posted just above your last one were not my words, but they are my belief. The following are also not my words, but I absolutely agree with them.
No, it is not correct to brush a cat from tail to head; the proper way to brush a cat is always to brush in the direction of their fur growth, which means starting from the head and moving towards the tail.
Why you should not brush tail to head:
Fur direction:
A cat’s fur naturally grows from the head towards the tail, so brushing against the grain can cause discomfort and irritation.
Matting:
Brushing from tail to head can easily create mats, especially in long-haired cats, as the fur gets tangled up.
I rest my case. No one has talked about brushing from tail to head as a method. As explained by both of us, it was only to raise the hairs a little. Then continue in the right direction (backwards). This is just tile nailing. Comments regarding poor treatment of animals must not affect those who clearly have great care for their pets. Here we are talking about a completely insignificant detail that has nothing to do with poor animal husbandry. End of story from me!
Here is the "nightly bath in progress and in a good mood!
And cats who take life easy and look very relaxed!
I talked about it, and I posted videos that proved it. As well as information from different sources that said the same thing.
She did it multiple times. It’s not insignificant.
I have no doubt she loves her cats. The fact that she brushes them, at all, proves that, as most on here don’t do it ever. But you can still mistreat and hurt the ones you love, animal or human.
Everything I’ve read says you should always brush from head to tail. Always means always, or never from tail to head.
I have said my piece. That’s just splitting hairs! (the English translation was a good fit here). You are of course right that the right method is from head to tail (no one has contradicted that). You show three moves in the opposite direction in both of your videos (we don’t know how many in total). It will not damage the skin or the fur. This discussion should have been taken on your own forum “Do You Love Cats?” and not here. If you are so concerned with details, you should not accept photos like this there. Whether this is staged or not, we don’t know either. Otherwise, a bite of a chocolate cake with cream and chocolate decorations can be fatal for a cat! THE END
This discussion has no place in Do You Love Cats. It happened in this apartment, the discussion is not off topic, so this is where it belongs.
I only posted one instance from each video to demonstrate what I was talking about because you said you couldn’t see it.
She said she loves her cats very much and I have no doubt that’s true. Based on that, I would think she would be open to and welcome information that would help her improve what she’s doing.
The picture you posted was not posted by me, and I have no control over what other people post there. I’m not a TL4, who can delete other people’s posts.
As I already mentioned, I am no expert on cats. I had already researched how to brush cats, so I knew beforehand that brushing from tail to head was wrong.
Is there any footage of the Tennant guy jerking off? I would love to see that.
