Do you cook this where you come from? A lot of Slavic food is similar.
It’s called Gołąbki here in Poland and it’s my favourite.
Pork, rice and herbs wrapped in cabbage and cooked in tomato sauce, served with creamed potatoes.

Gołąbki translates to pigeon in English, what do you call it where you come from?

Cabbage rolls here in Canada. Love my cabbage rolls and mashed potatoes (guessing its the same as creamed potatoes).

This is originated from Turkey an adopted by most of the countries from Est Europe. We are calling it “sarmale” and it is by far number one dish in Ro. We’re using pickled cabbage for making it, i seen that other countries use normal fresh cabbage. Very weird for me
This is how we serve them, with sour cream

Some say Oriental, some say Persian, but we will never really know. All I do know is that it is very common across Slavic countries and quite hard to make as you have to cook the cabbage leafs until they are soft enough to form a parcel - too much cooking and they are a mess, too little and they split.

Don’t care where they originated … I just like them!
