Yeah but school French here isn’t real French. The French laugh at our attempts. It was cancelled at my school, we got as far as names for cheeses.

I’m from Norway, and I had German as third language in school too. I can’t say I remember much, nor have I ever had any use for it. I can count to ten, and ask what is your name. I can understand quite abit, but I can’t speak it. Our school actually had three choices. German, French and Spanish. I chose German because I was very interested in grammar, and it has a common ancestry with the Scandinavian languages. Today, in retrospect, I really regret not choosing Spanish.

There’s an app you might like in the Microsoft store, called Translator. It has many features, but one you may find useful is called Conversations.
You start a conversation in the app, give the conversation code to whomever you like, one or more, then what you speak or type into your device is translated to their language on their end, and vice versa.
