In Belarusian it’s KDB, only in Russian is it KGB, but I’m being pedantic, no offence implied

But Russian is the majority language in Belarus.
In the Союз Советских Социалистических Республик (СССР) Russian was the official language. So many can speak Russian and their m____r tongue. Even today you will get along well with Russian in the areas.
Maybe they should speak Ukrainian in western Ukraine, if they can, but you don’t like to see Russian there (was already before the war with the “green men”).

This goes back LONG, many centuries before the Soviet Union. These areas were also part of the Russian Empire, and they belong to the Russian Orthodox Church. The Soviet Union just continued the imperialism that already was.
