I know a few couples who have had a good life after a break-up. It sounds like a paradox, but the previous constant bickering has been replaced by a loving relationship. I still find it hard to understand. It probably helps to withdraw the feeling of permanent commitment. And the sense of freedom and knowing that you can walk away at any time.

I agree. Sometimes people are just better off as friends than lovers. Removes all that pressure. An ex of mine and I became best friends after we broke up. We were practically inseparable. Only thing that pushed us (literally) apart was that I moved across the country, and a 3 hour time difference makes it difficult to talk (I’m in the US).
