Interracial

No, I actually think that is illegal.

So why do you say that Race pretty much divides the USA, but not Europe?

May I humbly suggest that you donā€™t do that. That is a can of worms you do not want to open. Itā€™s a very touchy subject.

The can is opened, but not to worry, I am here just to observe, It gives me access to how people still think today.

I know a lot of black people who decline to be called POC and are proud to be black. POC is a collective term which also includes the indigenous, the latin and the asian population or easier said every population which is not white as snow. ItĀ“s used by different communities to display their experience with racism. If you ask the different communities, they often use another term of self-designation. In my country for example black People call themselves Black with capital B.

This has been very fascinating learning how people interpret/use words around the world. It has been a very eye opening experience.

I completly agree with you especially when it comes to racism.

Respectfully, the above gives, unawareness, lack of exposure, and lack of knowledge.

Your ethnic groups are defined by race. Black, White, Native American, Latino, etc. Maybe Iā€™m wrong, but I have never seen any other way to define the American etnicities. You also have different religions, like catholic and protestant, but it seems much more subordinate, and doesnā€™t seem to constitute an ethnic identity, like for example Black and White do. Unrelated of political possition, a racial identity and racial awareness is definitely something that excists in America, and is present in the everyday political landscape. Black Lifes Matter is an example of that.

In Europe itā€™s quite different. Our ethnic groups are mainly based on language, culture and religion. The only difference between Walonian and Flandern is the language. The only difference between a Serb, a Croat and a Bosnian is religion. If you are black in Europe, you are first and foremost an immigrant in one of these excisting ethnicities. There is no identity as European-Black or European-White. Yes, we have a lot of racial tention issues here as well, especially linked to everything that has to do with imigration. But itā€™s still very different, itā€™s not so deeply rooted in an ethnic divide. There is no racial identity across these other ethnic borders that I described here. What language you speak is more important than skin-colour.

Thatā€™s what I meant.

I sincerely apologize if anyone was offenced by this. This was only my oversimplified attempt to give an analysis of the differences in ethnic identity between USA and Europe. It would probably have been wisest to stay out of a very polarized issue like this surely can be, but sometimes Iā€™m stupid, and write before thinking.

No offense taken from me! I do think race shouldnā€™t be a subject to be afraid to speak about. But should be done with a great understanding.

Iā€™ve said before that Iā€™ll never get into a race debate on this forum and I do intend to keep it that way. If something is said that is insensitive, I will choose whether I respond or not.
