'guest guy/girl' more and more often instead of names in the archive? Why?

I know you have an extensive knowledge of names of people but you are human (as far as I know ) but even you can have limitations for example +7 time zones won’t be your strongest subject.

Another thought how far would you go back into the archives to put names to guests. ?. It is a really good idea in theory if it can be practicable to implement.

For example say I was to save a moment in Harmonys apartment and I don’t know just say only 1 person from the group, now I check wiki and don’t find them then try scrolling through Harmonys forum thread which could easily have had 50, 60 or 100 plus comments added since my last visit only to find no name or missed it in the sea of comments.

I completely understand, I admit i wasn’t clear when I said look at the forum I meant the topic that Jabbath has mentioned the M/O’s have and the wiki, I’m not saying that M/O’s should go on wild goose chases for the names, we are told it’s a time consuming process and I assume potential M/O’s was told that before accepting the role.

I could be wrong but from what I can gather from not just this topic but other occasional mentions on other topics is that “guests” tags are used by some M/O’s for quickness or in some cases just for the sake of saving it to show that they are doing something, all we are asking really is that an attempt to name the people is made as in looking at the topic that Jabbath has said that is available and the wiki, if the names don’t exist then they don’t exist

Please don’t see this as a attack on M/O’s as some of us are just giving an opinion on how we can as a group can make this website a better place

About 99% of all names can be found there. The topic for MOs I mentioned just consists of a list of the latest names added so it is a bit easier to follow.
And of course there is always the opportunity to ask if you do not know it. I exchange PMs with some MOs who are interested in that and we discuss about names if they can’t be found or not clear.

I do not know about their intentions. All I can say is that for me quality comes before quantity.

This is how I think it should be. If a name does not exist all MOs have the right to edit the Wiki and add a new name by themselves. (In fact some of them do that)

I do not feel attacked at all. In fact as you can see in my latest posts I am not happy about that situation at all. Me and some other MOs do the efforts with the names but it gets ignored by other MOs. Can be frustrating at times.

I am now interested in what other people think about it and who of the TL3s could imagine helping by adding tags in to the videos where they are missing if this will be possible in the future.

Easiest to implement would be a section maybe called “Archive Videos tagging” and people can add links to videos and also the missing tags. The only problem is that at the moment besides the forum admins nobody can edit the videos.
If MOs could do that it would be a first step already.

I don’t see it as an attack, just thought to give a little clarification on why some may not look through to find names. As for myself if I go through and don’t see any name in wiki or after a quick scan of participants thread then I would just make up a name and add to wiki, now if the name changes or I missed it then it really not a huge issue to have it changed as the lovely @kaya is brilliant.

I find the archive quite confusing. Some people here have probably already noticed that I don’t know many of the names. I have problems especially with guests.

I think it’s a shame that the MO’s often don’t seem to want to look for the names and instead prefer to flood the archive with videos. Why not have fewer videos, but tag them correctly? That’s somehow part of the job and would often be helpful if you were looking for something in the archives.

Maybe it would be helpful if there were more MO’s and everyone worked according to a scheme so that the archive would be clearer.

Well for that me and some other MOs do the efforts that especially long term and returning guests are probably tagged and people who are not so familiar with everything can follow their favorite guests.

This is difficult as there is no clear “description” of the job. Speaking for myself I am asking for a Definition of Done for saving moments for a long time where it is specified how a moment should be done and the proper tags to be used so that no matter what operator save the moment the “quality” is always the same.

ive noticed this with Archi aswell he was participant then a guest but his name should be well enough known not to be just refered to as guest guy not in all videos but in quite a few

That wouldn’t be a bad idea.

VHTV should give the MO’s a clear instruction on how to do the job. Even if it is voluntary, “rules of the game” should be adhered to.

This is an interesting one to look at as how would say MO who only started looking at VH in the last year know who previous participants were, I’m not saying this is what has happened in this case but more so for going forward.
