“The attacks on Crimea are a complete disaster for Russia,” reports a reporter for the German news agency Deutsche Welle („Napadi na Krim su potpuna katastrofa za Rusiju“ – DW – 26.09.2023).
Ukraine’s attacks on military facilities in Sevastopol represent a serious blow to Russia: they show that Russian air defences are clearly incapable of intercepting Western cruise missiles.
Russia’s most advanced radars and air defence systems, such as the S-400 Triumf, are currently located in Crimea, says German military expert Markus Keupp. In these attacks, he points out, Ukraine is not only targeting military targets, but also symbolic targets such as the headquarters of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet, the most “sacred” military facility in all of Crimea.
