Discussion about Russian invasion of Ukraine

Russian soldiers leaving Ukraine

“Why Putin will do ‘everything possible’ to keep Crimea,” writes (Why Putin Will Do 'Everything Possible' to Keep Crimea - Newsweek) a columnist for the US magazine Newsweek.

:black_small_square: Russian President Vladimir Putin and his troops in occupied southern Ukraine will do everything possible to maintain control of Crimea, a senior Ukrainian military intelligence official has said. Leaders in Kiev are pushing ahead with plans to liberate the peninsula despite Western fears of an escalation by Russia.

:black_small_square: Vadym Skibitsky, deputy head of the Ukrainian Defence Ministry’s Main Directorate of Military Intelligence, said Crimea is key to Russia’s regional power projection. The liberation of the peninsula by Ukrainian troops is non-negotiable.

:black_small_square: Russia, according to Skibitsky, now has 423,000 troops on Ukrainian soil: in the occupied parts of eastern Donbass, Crimea and the southern Ukrainian “land corridor.” The Crimean peninsula, Skibitsky added, holds a special place among the 20 per cent of Ukraine still occupied by Russian troops.

:speech_balloon:"The Autonomous Republic of Crimea is an integral part of our country," he said. “They are doing everything possible to preserve the territories they occupied: the Kherson region, the Zaporizhzhya region, and also to preserve Crimea,” Skibitsky said, noting Crimea’s geographical dominance on the Black Sea and importance for Moscow’s power projection.

:speech_balloon:"Crimea helps them fully control the Black Sea region and transfer f___es to the Mediterranean Sea. Currently, the Russian Federation is actively using the Crimean peninsula to supply its units in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhya regions," Skibitskyy said. - It is through Crimea that all their supply routes, ammunition and personnel pass. In Crimea, they recently formed the 18th Combined Armed F___es Army, which is now being actively used in the Zaporizhzhya direction to prevent our counter-offensive."

American propaganda to convince the republicans to give more money to Ukraine

:us: “In 18 months, the Ukrainian people have regained half of their territory and not a single American has been k__led. NATO has grown. The Russian economy is falling apart. The Russian army has been destroyed. It was a good investment for the American people.” - Republican Senator Lindsey Graham on the visit of the President of Ukraine and why it is important for the United States to continue supporting Ukraine.

“If we defeat him [Putin], we will make the world a better place, and all they need is American military and economic support. We are destroying the Russian army without losing a single American soldier.”

And it is true. The best sons of the Ukrainian state are laying down their health and lives to destroy the Russian occupier, defending their home from the invader, and preventing Moscow from spreading the Russian world further around the world. It is in your interest that the Kremlin does not win this war, and you do not need to send your soldiers to war to do so. So don’t waste time and do everything you can to help us, otherwise it may be too late.

:fu:t2:"By the way, the International Red Cross has gone to the back of the line, they are terrible freaks"

:bust_in_silhouette:Military medic Orest Hrytsiuk, (Redirecting...) who was held captive (Орест Грицюк – Військові медики України) by the Katsapni for 9 months, told in an interview how representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Muscovy participated in the a___e of prisoners of war

:speech_balloon: “They came there, their Russian representatives… we were walking there and singing songs, they were filming it all on video, laughing, clapping us on the shoulders and calling us all sorts of bad names. These are representatives of the International Red Cross.” - Orest notes.

:no_entry_sign: Yes, this is exactly the “pseudo-humanitarian” organisation that has not yet studied International Humanitarian Law, being a part of it, calling (Int Committee of the Red Cross | Conflict in Ukraine has rapidly escalated this week. But sadly, this is only one of many conflicts around the world devastating the lives... | Instagram) the Russian-Ukrainian war just a “conflict”, not aggression, which is an international war crime.

:no_entry_sign: This is the organisation that helps the occupiers under the guise of “humanitarian aid” (Red Cross Russia office collects military gear for Russian Army, violating principle of neutrality - Euromaidan Press), facilitated deportations from Mariupol, supporting families whose husbands went to occupy Ukraine, joining Putin’s projects that not only morally support the occupiers, but also provide them with various equipment and means of warfare.

:zap: We agree that the Ministry of Health of Ukraine is aware of this glaring situation and is asking the representatives of the ICCH to explain the actions of their representatives in the younger age.

MAJOR ADVANCES!

Ukrainian f___es have managed to cut the link road between Novopropivka and Verbove, therefore denying easy relocation for the Russians as they race to fill gaps in either frontline. This seriously hampers their tactical flexibility.
The Russian loss here was precipitated only by the loss of a number of running engagements north and west of Verbove that preceded it. The road capture was in effect, the cascaded result of an earlier loss.
Ukrainian gains were over 1km in depth and almost 3km wide overall around the village and west along the road.
Having managed to quickly f___e the Russians to back off the Ukrainian f___es rapidly switched from the Verbove side to NE Novopropivka and south of Robotyne. Substantial gains into the north of Novopropivka were made and a significant area is now in the grey zone.
A failed Russian counter attack made things worse.
Novopropivka is regarded as an unwise defensive position. The terrain is not at all suitable for a defence such as that conducted at Klieshievka and there is a strong argument that the Russians would be better off just letting it go in the wider scheme of things. However they have a centuries long history of defending settlements that’s ingrained in them and to just give it up runs counter to their DNA.
A good day for Ukraine with smart local strategic thinking and outstanding technical execution.

How Putin’s war affected life of Russians

 putin (Telegram: Contact @Pravda_Gerashchenko) ordered shoigu to stop the ukrainian counteroffensive by october - ISW

Analysts at the Institute for the Study of War, citing a Kremlin insider source, say the rf president has given Shoigu a month to improve the situation on the front line, halt the Ukrainian counteroffensive and give Russian f___es back the initiative.

The report says the Russian military commanders may order continuous counterattacks to f___e the Ukrainian counteroffensive to culminate, even at a high cost to Russian military capabilities.

“Putin and the Kremlin view Russian defensive operations as a major victory on the battlefield, and continuous Russian counterattacks allow the Kremlin to call these operations individual victories amid a general lack of Russian successes (Telegram: Contact @Pravda_Gerashchenko) on the battlefield elsewhere,” ISW detailed.

:fire: Fuel tank cars burnt down near Orenburg, Russia

The fire started the day before at a private enterprise. According to the Russian Emergencies Ministry, the approximate area of the fire was 500 square metres.

Russian Telegram channels write that the fire occurred at an Orenburg oil depot.

The reasons for the incident are not reported, while a large number of fires (Telegram: Contact @Pravda_Gerashchenko) in different regions of the country have been occurring in recent months.

An air alert has also been declared there and water and land transport has been suspended. The Crimean bridge is temporarily blocked.

UPD. Razvozhayev announced the cancellation of the air alert. Traffic on the Crimean bridge has been restored.

An AFU drone attacked a diesel plant in Bryansk. According to our information, a fire started there afterwards, and UAV debris fell on the territory of the enterprise.

Also the flight was on the farm “Miratorg”, located in the region. In total, the region was attacked four times during the day.

“FROM THE ANALYST”

BIG ADVANCES AS RUSSIANS START TO PANIC

The Northern Front has been active with Russian attacks but they seem in general to be unsuccessful.
Around the E40 highway heading towards Soledar the Russians counter attacked and made some very minor gains.
At Klishievka the Ukrainian f___es have pushed the Russians right the way back beyond the rail line, although it’s been challenging. The Russian side of the line is boggy and full of marshes and small shallow lakes. This restricts the opportunity to cross the area.
Ukraine believes it now has such a high level of fire control over the south road to Bakhmut it’s effectively unusable.
Ukraine has made small gains into Kurdiumivka further down the Eastern front.
Down in Vuhledar the Russians are using aviation launched FAB-500 bombs to knock down the remaining high rise buildings which the Ukrainians used to monitor Russians with drones and fire ATGM’s.
Robotyne. There is rumour that 10,000 Ukrainian troops have been pulled from other areas of the front to strengthen the attack on Novoprokopivka and Verbove.
Ukraine is definitely fighting on the outskirts of both towns, and fight along both tree lines and tank ditches. There is a continuous and consistent Ukrainian advance and the Russians are clearly loosing.
A letter from exhausted 7th VDV troops complained to wives and loved ones that they were being shot ‘like partridges’, that ‘the locals hate us’, and ask what are we fighting for? They complain of exhaustion and want to go home.
This attitude seems to run deep in many Russian units but they don’t have any way to stop fighting without being k__led by their own f___es.
More complaints from other units basically claim that the front is close to collapse and nobody wants to hear the bad news.
However there is praise for Russian air f___e units who are in Russian eyes being quite successful.
There’s no question the Russians are deeply concerned over the amount of Ukrainian artillery and counter battery capacity, while Russian artillery is considered to have been severely degraded to the point of nonexistence.
The Russians are claiming things are so bad the 56th MIB is close to being encircled and the Russian commander “is like a headless chicken and can’t make a decision.”
OPSEC remains tight so that’s about the best I can report tonight.
It’s been a busy day - there seems
To be opportunity but Russians are using FPV drones very successfully against assault groups.
This is a really tough going but positive situation. Keep going - this is it - it seems we are at that make or break it moment in the next few days.

:bangbang: Occupiers attack crowded places with drones - Gumenyuk

“Russians are more often switching to air attacks, using drones to strike places where humanitarian aid is being provided, humanitarian headquarters are gathering, or people are simply heading home from work,” said Natalia Gumenyuk, spokeswoman for the Defense F___es of southern Ukraine.

South direction. The Ukrainian defenders are pushing the Russians out of their positions with heavy fire, simultaneously destroying half of the invaders running along the trench.

Terrorists should already understand that getting out of Ukraine is the only real possibility to survive. Either they will get out on their own, or they will have to run away like in this video.

Test of the Ukrainian marine underwater drone Marichka

According to the developers, the drone is:
:small_blue_diamond:unnoticeable for many radars, echo sounders and scanners;
:small_blue_diamond:autonomous - it can stay in standby mode for a long time and can be launched by timer or signal to perform a task;
:small_blue_diamond: capable of travelling over 1000 km.

Another “analogue” (Telegram: Contact @Pravda_Gerashchenko) development of the rf army - anti-drone nets

The innovative invention was spotted in Bakhmut (Telegram: Contact @Pravda_Gerashchenko). The effectiveness of the net can be assessed on the bottom video.

An explosion occurred at a main gas pipeline in Lubny district, Poltava region, said the head of the Regional Military Administration, Lunin.

According to the State Emergency Service, at 13:00, an underground high-pressure gas pipeline was depressurized. Maintenance personnel closed the intermediate valves. The pressure in the pipeline in this area is gradually decreasing, and there is no threat to the settlements.

Musk’s X is biggest outlet of Russia disinformation, EU says

Elon Musk’s X was cited as the biggest outlet for peddlers of disinformation as the European Union urged Silicon Valley platforms to step up their vigilance to combat Russia’s “war of ideas.”

European Commission Vice President Vera Jourova said (Bloomberg - Are you a robot?) platforms need to act ahead of national and European elections over the next year.

“This is a multi-million euro weapon of mass manipulation aimed both internally at the Russians as well as Europeans and the rest of the world,” Jourova told reporters Tuesday. “The very large platforms must address this risk. Especially that we have to expect that the Kremlin and others will be active before our European elections.”

“The United Nations’ Commission of Inquiry on Ukraine has found that in the Kherson region, Russian soldiers r__ed and committed sexual violence against women of ages ranging from 19 to 83 years, often together with threats or commission of other v_______ns,” the latest UN report reads. “Frequently, family members were kept in an adjacent room, thereby f___ed to hear the v_______ns taking place.”

 Putin ordered Shoigu to stop the counter-offensive of the Armed F___es of Ukraine by October – ISW

Analysts at the Institute for the Study of War, citing an insider source in the Kremlin, claim that the Russian President gave Shoigu a month to improve the situation on the front line, stop the Ukrainian counter-offensive and return the initiative to Russian troops.

The report suggests that Russian military commanders may order continuous counterattacks to f___e the Ukrainian counteroffensive to reach a climax, even at high cost to Russian military capabilities.

“Putin and the Kremlin view Russian defensive operations as a major victory on the battlefield, and constant Russian counterattacks allow the Kremlin to call these operations individual victories against the backdrop of a general lack of Russian success on the battlefield elsewhere,” ISW details.

IS A RUSSIAN BRIGADE SURROUNDED?

There’s a lot of rumour based on Russian reporting and very little from Ukrainian sources. Russians are freaking out at what they claim is Ukrainian advances well up to half way in Verbove and another pincer arm moving from the north around Novofeodrivka which is NE of Verbove. Inside that closing encirclement is said to be a heavily depleted and exhausted VDV brigade on its last legs.
Operational security on the Ukrainian side is nailed down, but the panic from the Russian side suggests there’s actually something to it.
If - and I stress IF - this is true it’s a very big deal and could see the Ukrainians stretch the salient eastward dramatically - making more defensible.
Ironically the Russian troops potentially under threat of being taken into a pocket, are the ones who were sent to counter attack the eastern side of the salient and had made a few small gains before running out of steam.
There’s rarely smoke without fire in these reports but we have to wait and see. If the Russians break here and fall back exhausted it’s a disaster for the whole of that sector of the front.
Fingers crossed! :crossed_fingers:

Russian Soldier Accuses Military Police of Racially Charged Beating

A Russian soldier from the republic of North Ossetia has accused military police officers of violently beating him and other servicemen during deployment in occupied Ukraine, media reported Tuesday.

Arsen Temirayev said in a video posted on social media that Russian military police officers had attacked him and his fellow soldiers in southern Ukraine’s partially occupied region of Zaporizhzhia.

Temirayev’s attackers used racial slurs and said “Russia is for Russians” after learning that he was from the North Caucasus.
“I thought the Nazis were on the other side [of the frontline]. Turns out they’re among us,” he said.
