Discussion about Russian invasion of Ukraine

I held a meeting of the Council of Ministers. The main issues are the protection of our ports and the continuation of food exports by sea. This is a strategically important issue, and not only for our country. We are developing options for action and agreements to preserve Ukraine’s global role as a guarantor of food security, our maritime access to the global market, and jobs for Ukrainians in ports and the agricultural industry. We are fighting for global security and for our Ukrainian farmers.

Of course, the meeting heard reports from the military, intelligence, the Security Service, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The issues are clear: the situation on the frontline, all the hotspots, from Kupianske to Kherson, Donetsk region, southern districts of Zaporizhzhia region… We discussed the supply of ammunition and protection from Russian missile and drone strikes.

I thank everyone who is fighting for Ukraine! Glory to all our heroes - to each and every one of them who fights for Ukraine, who trains our soldiers, who treats and recovers them from injuries! I thank everyone in the world who is helping! And I thank all our partners for today’s Ramstein, and especially US Secretary of Defence Austin for his very clear, unambiguous and powerful statements. Overcoming Russian aggression and punishing Russia for terror is a historic task for the current generation of world leaders. And the world will fulfil this task. Ukraine will win!

In the video below - Assuming the deaths on the bridge is true, I can’t understand why a 14 year old girl was traveling there after 3am!!?? Surely a 14 year old girl should be in bed s___ping at that time? Anyway Ukrainian f___es hitting the bridge after 3am seriously reduces the risks to civilians unlike Russian f___es.

But what about Biden? a senile elderly person?
Always better than Trump for sure, but Biden is getting to old for the job he has…

“And we brought Israelis and Palestinians together on a political level. And they… Uh… I’m forward here… m-m-m. And I… Uh… And I assured the prime minister…”: Biden dozed off in a meeting with Israel’s president

I agree 100%, this man is too old for the job but nevertheless BETTER than Trump. Who will take his place when he pops his clogs? The vice president and who is that? Oh well… then we will see history being made because Biden will most likely be re-elected if necessary. Kamala Harris is vice! A good black woman… WOMAN let alone being black in power!!

This could be an interesting topic in a few weeks. A train of thought is that if Putin leaves Russia then a plane civilian or military becomes a legitimate target to shoot down or f___e to land.

Any attempt to arrest Vladimir Putin if he visits South Africa would be a declaration of war against Russia, the country’s president says.

Cyril Ramaphosa made the warning with weeks to go before an international meeting happens in Johannesburg, to which the Russian president is invited.

But if Mr Putin leaves Russian soil, he will be subject to an International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant.

He is accused of committing war crimes during the Ukraine conflict.

Russia has consistently described the ICC arrest warrant as outrageous and legally void because the country is not a member of the organisation.

South Africa is an ICC signatory and should therefore help in his arrest.

Yet it has refused to honour that obligation in the past - allowing safe passage in 2015 to Sudan’s then-President Omar al-Bashir who was wanted for war crimes against his own people.

Mr Putin has been invited to South Africa in August, when the country hosts a summit for members of the Brics countries - an acronym for Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. This bloc of fast-growing economies is seen by some as an alternative to the G7 group of advanced economies.

South Africa’s biggest opposition party, Democratic Alliance, has gone to court to try to f___e the authorities to carry out an arrest on Mr Putin should he set foot in the country.

Court documents reveal that President Ramaphosa is firmly against any such move, stating that national security is at stake.

“South Africa has obvious problems with executing a request to arrest and surrender President Putin,” he said in an affidavit.

“Russia has made it clear that arresting its sitting president would be a declaration of war. It would be inconsistent with our constitution to risk engaging in war with Russia.”

President Ramaphosa added that South Africa is one of several African nations holding talks with Russia and Ukraine “with a view of ending the war altogether”, and that attempting to arrest Mr Putin would be counter-productive.

Last month saw a peace mission to the European nations, where African presidents hoped they could bring Ukraine and Russia to the table together but ultimately failed.

Much has been made of African nations’ reluctance to back UN general assembly resolutions condemning Russia’s war in Ukraine.

Correspondents say the reasons range depending on the nation - be it South Africa’s anti-apartheid ties to the Soviet Union, or Mali’s present-day reliance on Russian Wagner mercenaries to fight jihadists.

There are economic ties between Russia and African nations too, not least in South Africa.

A sanctioned Russian oligarch, Viktor Vekselberg, is said to be one of the biggest donors to South Africa’s governing party - the African National Congress (ANC).

I guess there doesn’t need to be any discussion about that since Putler has already canceled and is sending Lavrov to South Africa instead.

Trump is old as well, so not much chance of someone under leading the states. Either cdould croak while in office next term

MI6 chief urges Russians appalled by war in Ukraine to spy for UK

Throughout the day, maximum attention was paid to eliminating the consequences of the Russian terrorists’ strike on Odesa, on communities in the region, on Chornomorsk… on our ports… This was perhaps the largest attempt by Russia to inflict pain on Odesa during the full-scale war. Thanks to our air defence systems, all our defenders of the sky, the consequences of this strike are still less than they could have been… With each such strike, we appeal to our partners again and again - Ukraine’s air shield needs to be strengthened.

This strike proves that their target is not only Ukraine, not only the lives of our people… The ports that were attacked today were storing about a million tonnes of food… This is the volume that should have been delivered to consumer countries in Africa and Asia long ago… In the port terminal that suffered the most from Russian terror last night, 60,000 tonnes of agricultural products were stored, which were intended to be shipped to China… So everyone is affected by this - Russian terror. Everyone in the world should be interested in bringing Russia to justice for its terror.

Glory to everyone who is fighting for Ukraine and freedom! I thank everyone in the world who helps!
Glory to Ukraine!

According to Turkish sources, Turkey has supplied and plans to supply Ukraine with about 180 Bayraktar TB2 UAVs, 100 Bayraktar Mini, 500 protected vehicles, and then 122-mm rockets.

Supplies of mortar and artillery ammunition are likely to start in the near future.

This is due to the fact that ammunition stocks in the West are rapidly dwindling

:fire::ru::ukraine: At the moment there are several vessels travelling to Ukraine in the Black Sea.

All of them are heading towards the port of Izmail on the border with Romania. One of the vessels is a dry cargo ship Alfa Star under the flag of Cameroon.

Earlier today, the Russian Defence Ministry announced that all vessels entering Ukrainian ports from the beginning of the next day will be considered “potential carriers of military cargo”, i.e. military targets…

Are the partners starting to try the Russian MoD “on weakness”?

@vorposte

@ Lukas156546 good question. I would be very surprised if they fired on these ships but then we are talking about Putin here. If they did they would probably try and clame it on Ukraine or a Ukrainian sea mine.

Russia may attack civilian ships in Black Sea and blame Ukraine, US warns

Warning comes after Moscow says all ships sailing to Ukrainian ports could be seen as ‘involved’ in conflict after it pulled out of the UN-backed grain deal

Russia may attack civilian ships on the Black Sea and then put the blame on Ukrainian f___es, a senior White House official has said, hours after Moscow warned it would consider all ships sailing in the area to Ukrainian ports potential military targets.

“The Russian military may expand their targeting of Ukrainian grain facilities to include attacks against civilian shipping,” national security council spokesperson Adam Hodge told AFP on Wednesday.

He said the allegation was based on newly declassified intelligence.

It came in the wake of a missile and drone attack by Russia against the port city of Odesa and after the Kremlin pulled out of an international deal allowing safe passage of massive Ukrainian grain exports across the Black Sea to world markets.

Moscow said its missiles targeted military objectives in Odesa but Hodge backed Ukrainian accusations that the attack destroyed “agricultural infrastructure and 60,000 tons of grain” lying ready for export.

According to the White House official, those kinds of attacks could now expand to civilian ships. And Russia is mounting an operation to make such attacks look as if they were carried out by Ukraine, he said.

Hodge cited Russia’s release of a video showing its f___es detecting and destroying an “alleged Ukrainian sea mine” on Wednesday.

At the same time, “our information indicates that Russia laid additional sea mines in the approaches to Ukrainian ports. We believe that this is a coordinated effort to justify any attacks against civilian ships in the Black Sea and lay blame on Ukraine for these attacks.”

Earlier, the Russian defence ministry said all vessels sailing to Ukrainian ports on the Black Sea from midnight Moscow time (2100 GMT Wednesday) would be regarded as potential carriers of military cargo and their flag states “considered to be involved in the Ukrainian conflict on the side of the Kyiv regime”.

It did not say what it would do in such an instance.

Ukraine said on Wednesday it was establishing a temporary shipping route via Romania, one of the neighbouring Black Sea countries.

“Its goal is to facilitate the unblocking of international shipping in the north-western part of the Black Sea,” Vasyl Shkurakov, Ukraine’s acting minister for communities, territories and infrastructure development, said in a letter to UN shipping agency, the International Shipping Organization.
