So, what is the official line on users having multiple accounts? @vhtv

Your question is a valid one, but I don’t understand how posting duplicate pictures indicates that the accounts belong to the same user. Even if one account is only a week old. Duplicate pictures get posted all the time. Am I missing something In the picture you posted?

Duplicate pictures don’t get posted all the time. similar ones do. Identical ones don’t. both these images have the same filename. the exact filename. I’d lay money on them coming from the same device.

If you’re referring to this file name (the part starting with E7F909), that name is created randomly by the system each time you post a picture, or any file. It’s not the name of the file as it exists on the user’s hard drive. We don’t have access to that file name, I presume for privacy and security reasons.

While these system names are the same for both these pictures, that could just be because they are identical pictures, and the system used the same system name, IDK. I don’t know how the system assigns these names, so that’s just speculation. It does save them because you can copy and paste them from one post to another.

It’s also possible that the user was savvy enough to copy and paste that system file into the second post, and that’s how they got the same system name, IDK.

And, you might just be right, but it could be that a better barometer of the possibility that these came from the same user might be the fact that the screenshot(s) was taken by the same software. Just a thought.

The identical time gave it away, for me. Quite obvious looking at that, that is was the same poster with 2 accounts.

That seems to be the case because not only the file name, the entire address of the image is the same. Both posts are displaying the exact same file from VHTV’s server. For what purpose that was done is anybody’s guess.

The second poster could have downloaded the picture posted by the first poster and then tested how to post picture on the forum.

If you download a picture posted in the forum by another member, the downloaded file will have the same file name as the original file even if it s a difference device.

When you download a picture, or any file, you only get the part of the file name that starts with, in this case, E7F909. In order to repost that same downloaded file using the system file name, you would need the entire file name starting with https. As far as I can see there’s no way to tell what that is from the downloaded file.

Certainly, it is possible to repost that downloaded file, but not using the original system file name from the downloaded file.

The only way I can see to use someone else’s system generated file name to repost a file, is with a whole lot of very tedious typing.

You would need to right click/long press on the picture to get the file name like what I posted above. Then, just start typing. Of course, it would need to be typed with the proper symbols and so on and so forth, in order for it to post properly.

Having said all that, you could actually use Google Lens or Google Translate to pull the text out of a picture like what I posted above, then, it’s just a simple matter of copy and paste, with the proper symbols, of course.

Edit: It is, in fact, a very simple and fast process to re-display a picture. I don’t say re-post, because I don’t post a picture, I’m only displaying the file that is already on the server.

It took me 5 seconds. I downloaded the picture posted in the forum (right click on it and then save image as) and then uploaded that file by dragging it in the reply section. It has the exact same file name as the other 2 and no, we are not the same person lol.

EDIT: just saw Julio137347’s video in the post before mine. He already explained it.

While I don’t have the luxury of drag and drop (I’m on a phone), or even highlighting text as easily as you can on a computer, I understand what you’re doing.
:+1:

Yes, this photo was taken twice since I was the one who posted it on the forum.

All very interesting. (takes notes)

La joie de vivre.
